Supplier News Aggreko powers up Martabe project TEMPORARY power and temperature control service provider Aggreko has commissioned a turnkey rental power package to power the construction and initial operations of G-Resources’ Martabe mine in Northern Sumatra. The mine will eventually be power ed via the local grid, however, for the initial start-up, commissioning and early operations, a temporary power facility will be r equired while connection to the grid is established. Aggreko has supplied a 24MW power package to the Martabe site in two separate stages. The first 8MW, for commissioning, was delivered at the end of 2011. The r emaining 16MW was supplied at the beginning of May 2012 when the mine began operations. By staggering the power supply , Aggreko ensured that the critical power r equirements at every stage could be satisfied within eight weeks of the contract being signed. The Martabe mine is the core mining asset for G-Resources in South East Asia and will ultimately employ about 2000 people. It is forecast that once in full operation, it will produce more than 250,000 ounces of gold and between two and three million ounces of silver annually.
