PUBLIC SPEAKING: LIONS INTER-SCHOOLS DEBATE

We are proud to announce that our debating team trounced Shree Swaminarayan
Academy, their rivals during last year’s finals to emerge winners and earn a ticket to
proceed to round two. Team OAM, comprising Shamma Doshi, Gideon Mtango,
Jash Shah and Amran Yerrow opposed the motion: Freedom of Speech should
not be restricted. The reserve speaker was Rousinaar Awiti. Gideon Mtango was
the best speaker of the debate

The Semi-finals/second-round of the Inter-schools Lions debate took
place on the 6th of February 2016. It pitted our school (OAM) against
Greenwood Grove International. The stakes were so high for both schools
and each wanted nothing less than victory. The motion of the day was:
Kenya should embrace GMO technology for food security, our team was
opposing the motion. Our speakers put up a spirited fight and emerged
victorious. In addition, Jash Shah was declared the best speaker of the
debate.
This earned us a booking for the finals which took place on 13th February
2016 against Shimo La Tewa High School in a motion: Social Media has
done more harm than good, we were the proposing side.
