PUBLIC SPEAKING: Middle School Model United Nations (MSMUN)<br />

A group of 20 students attended <strong>the</strong> MSMUN conference held at <strong>the</strong> UN<br />

headquarters in Nairobi from 26th January to 29th January 2016. These youngsters<br />

from Year 7 to 9 not only interacted with peers from o<strong>the</strong>r <strong>school</strong>s but also got<br />

a platform to debate on global issues such as:<br />

• Health<br />

• Peace and Security<br />

• Environmental Protection<br />

• Human rights Issues<br />

• Technological Issues<br />

• Curbing civil war in Middle East<br />

• Ending violation and abuse of children’s rights<br />

• Eradicating xenophobic attacks in South Africa and reducing land<br />

degradation and pollution.<br />

Besides, <strong>the</strong>y were privileged to mingle with Achim Steiner, UNEP executive<br />

director on <strong>the</strong> last day of <strong>the</strong> conference and Undersecretary General and were<br />

addressed by <strong>the</strong> president of Nigeria, H. E. Hon. Buhari on Thursday 28 th<br />

January 2016<br />
