Celebrating Your First Year
For Julius,
Your perpetual state of awe and
wonder is an inspiration to us all.
We love you with our whole hearts.
We caught our first glimpse of you this week
only 0.64cm but with all of the raw ingredients for life
we even heard your heart beat
beginning the great gallop towards this world
you surprised us in Palm Springs with news of your arrival
amidst the blue skies, palm trees and warm winds of January
you came to us at the end of 2011
a year of great manifestation
revealing yourself to us
as the door opened to 2012
we love you already, small as you are
and we will do our best to take care of you, in and out of the womb
I am sure our journey with you will open us in new and unimaginable ways
we will reveal ourselves to each other slowly
through the unspoken language of creation
it is our first time at this, so please be patient
as we discover the best parts of ourselves
so we may grow together as a family
we are honored to write you into our book of life,
as you have chosen to allow us to be the author of your creation
in collaboration with God.
Celebrating Your First Year
welcome
Delicate lashes
lips to take the world by storm
round cheeks
first sprouts of hair
little ears that look quite a bit like mine
your innocence is beyond measure.
waking up
to the world
You are discovering the world
more and more each day
your small hands
move with the grace of a piano player
and the strength of someone who has the power
to manifest great things
you are slowly emerging to us
and to yourself
revealing little by little
who you are and who you are going to become.
strong roots
Small sprout
you rise up from my roots
eager to embrace the moment
now you are the current in my days
my course is charted by your tides
ebb and flow of your pursuit for growth
I am your shelter
I am your sun
your source
in the bridge between oneness and separateness
I dig deep into my own wellspring
so we may both flourish
as spring comes around the bend.
