Summary<br />

What’s clear from the findings <strong>of</strong> this report is the interrelationship between the major<br />

challenges facing our young people.<br />

As one troubled young person from Shakespeare said, “When sorrows come, they come not<br />

single spies, but in battalions.”<br />

As a consequence, our priority should be to help people in the round not in isolation.<br />

To address these complex challenges, the agencies supporting young people need to work in<br />

partnership and be open to all parts <strong>of</strong> society. The challenges we face as a society are not<br />

restricted to rich or poor and cannot be met without helping people develop in all areas.<br />

You cannot achieve good physical health without strong mental health and you cannot be a<br />

productive member <strong>of</strong> society if you cannot first help yourself.<br />

At <strong>Central</strong> <strong>YMCA</strong>, our commitment is to work with all people and all partners including<br />

governments, the public and private sectors to bring lasting benefits, helping individuals and<br />
