OUR HISTORY<br />
Trafalgar Fisheries forms an intrinsic<br />
part of Longford Estates Enterprises<br />
located on the Wiltshire/Hampshire Avon<br />
south of Salisbury. The farms have been<br />
successfully growing trout since 1973, a<br />
pioneer in the industry. The Eighth Earl of<br />
Radnor and his Riverkeeper experimented<br />
with growing trout taking advantage of<br />
the old water meadow system in the<br />
Avon Valley.<br />

TRAFALGAR FISHERIES<br />
Since the inception of the fish farms our<br />
method of growing quality trout has not<br />
changed. Fry are bred and hand reared<br />
at our Hatchery high in the Chalke Valley<br />
before being brought to our farms where<br />
crystal clear water flows from the Chalk<br />
Aquifer on Salisbury Plain. Though best<br />
practice produces healthy and wholesome<br />
fish for you to enjoy.<br />

ORIGIN<br />
Rainbow Trout were originally found in<br />
the lakes and streams that drained from<br />
the Pacific slopes from Alaska to Mexico.<br />
The species has now adapted and is truly a<br />
Worldwide fish.<br />
Brown Trout are indigenous to the British<br />
Isles. Due to their inherently wild and slow<br />
growing nature they are mainly farmed<br />
in small numbers and are line caught. We<br />
carefully nurture these fish for the table<br />
and are seen as a superior delicacy.<br />
