President’s Message
Our annual Community Guide
strives to bring valuable information
and insight regarding area
businesses and their products and
services, along with information
about this community. The Chamber
proudly supports a number of local
initiatives and events which benefit
all of us, who work, live and play in
this beautiful community!
For the last 7 years, The Angus
& Area Chamber of Commerce
has supported and represented its
member’s economic growth and
development. The long term vitality
and success of our businesses
as well as the attraction of new
businesses to our area strongly
depend on our diversity, collaboration
and continued support of each other.
Moving forward, we will continue to
support these businesses and bring
opportunities for all!
In addition to the Chamber’s role
as an advocate for our business
members, we bring educational
and networking opportunities. We
offer businesses a chance to meet
other business people which can
result in new partnerships, working
arrangements and growth. If you
are a local or area business owner,
I encourage you to consider joining
us. We are well worth the investment
for your business. The Chamber
is here to help you succeed and
prosper!
I would like to take this opportunity
to personally thank our Board of
Directors for all their efforts this
past year and all those directly
involved in the development of this
guide. Without your hard work and
dedication, this incredible vehicle of
information would not be possible.
To all our members; It`s been an
honour to have been your president
The Ontario Tree Seed Plant was
established by the Department of Lands
and Forests and has operated continuously
on its current site in Angus since 1923. The
Plant is currently operated by the Ministry
of Natural Resources with a mandate to
preserve and provide source appropriate
tree seed for reforestation across Ontario.
The facility collects seed from about
50 different species and supplies nursery
operations, forestry companies, and the
public. It also maintains the provincial
tree seed bank of native tree species
from across the province. The Seed Plant
is especially well equipped to carry out
extraction for coniferous species as well
as cleaning and testing for all native tree
species.
With particular attention to Ontario’s
varied geo-climatic Seed Zones the Seed
Plant staff ensure an adequate supply of
genetically appropriate seed for zones
Ontario Tree Seed Plant
across the province. With a long proud
history in the Angus community and
across the province, the Seed Plant is
well positioned for the future contributing
to Ontario’s commitment to forest
regeneration and conserving biological
diversity.
Angus & Area Community Guide 2016 - 7

From the Beginning...
The Kingdom of Great Britian acquired the colony of
“Canada” from France in 1763, followed in 1791 by the
“Constitutional Act” which created Upper (now southern
Ontario) and Lower (now south eastern Quebec) Canada.
John Graves Simcoe was the first Lieutenant Governor of
Upper Canada, after whom Simcoe County was named.
In the early 1800’s our area was part of “The Pine Plains”
as it was a vast forest with stands of white and red pine
of 150 to 200 feet tall, and was mostly inhabited by First
Nation peoples. After this time, immigration to Canada
expanded with many of those from Great Britain arriving in
Upper Canada, and seeking their futures in the rural lands
to the north of Toronto.
As settlement pushed northwest, so did the first road
from Barrie. “Sunnidale Road” to the Nottawasaga River
(Sunnidale – Essa Townline) was surveyed and built in 1833,
becoming simply a rough wagon track through the forest. A
ferry was used to cross the river, followed shortly by a log
bridge (the current iron bridge, known as the Elliott Bridge,
near William Elliott’s farm). Also in 1833, the government
surveyed a village at this end of Sunnidale Road to be
called “Rippon”. The plan laid out lots and streets on both
sides of the Nottawasaga River and included a town square
and market place; however the scheme was abandoned
later the same year.
Settlement advanced slowly for the next 20 years as
travel was limited to horse, wagon, or by foot. During this
time occurred the Rebellion of Lower Canada in 1837 –
1838 and Great Britain recommended the merging of Upper
and Lower Canada, and the “Act of Union 1840” thereby
created the “Province of Canada”.
A few grist and saw mills were scattered about, on the
Pine, Mad, and Nottawasaga Rivers, and more settlers
started to arrive. In 1852 a 200 acre tract of pine land,
in the neighborhood of one such Pine River saw mill, was
purchased by Jonas Tar Bush for $100. After much lobbying
in the Province, a railway was approved to link the capital
city of Toronto with Georgian Bay. The Northern Railway
line to Allandale (Barrie) was completed in 1853 and on to
Collingwood in 1855, passing by the saw mill on the Pine
River. Reliable transportation would often play an important
role in the development of communities like the village of
“Pine River”.
In 1857 J. Tar Bush partnered with W. Proudfoot and
published a map laying out lots and streets in what was then
renamed “Angus”, after Angus Morrison the first Member of
Parliament of Simcoe County. The years that followed saw
the rapid expansion of the lumber industry with up to 17
saw mills in the larger area, and most of that lumber being
transported to the railway station in Angus. It is said that
at times upward of 12 trains a week left Angus for shipment
as masts and spars to His Majesty’s Royal Navy. Jonas Tar
Bush donated land for local churches and a school. At one
time there were 5 hotels, 4 dancehalls, 2 liquor stores, 5
general stores, 2 tailors, 2
photographers, a flour and
feed store, drug store, bake
shop, and saddle and harness
shop in this railroad village.
The dawn of July 1,
1867 saw “Canadian
Confederation” bring together
the 4 provinces of Ontario,
Quebec, New Brunswick and
Nova Scotia, being federally
united as the “Dominion of
Canada”.
A branch line of the
Hamilton and Northwestern
Railway was built in 1878 from
...A History of Angus
and many area reforestation projects (1924).
The Angus Community Park (Huron Street & King
Street) opened in 1929, and on July 1 hosted celebrations
of Dominion Day, now Canada Day, with fireworks in the
evening. The Angus Horticultural Society was formed in
1929, and their members have provided many significant
projects to the benefit of Angus and it’s residents since that
time.
Beeton to Collingwood, cutting off much of the shipping via
Angus. This marked the peak of prosperity of Angus, and
now that most pine trees had been cleared, there was a
slow decline during the 1880’s and 1890’s. Transportation
had again affected the community, this time negatively,
slowly reducing the number of businesses until 1901, when
only the drug store remained.
After 1910 Angus started to grow again, aided with the
opening of Camp Borden (1916); becoming a “police village”
(1920); building of the Ontario Forestry Seed Plant (1923);
Essa Centennial Library was a community fund raising
project in 1965, being completed and opened at Mill and
King Streets, in Canada’s Centennial year. The Angus
Arena was also a local fund raising project, which was
opened in 1977. The first Santa Claus parade was held in
1978. The Angus Business Improvement Area (BIA) was
established in 1995, having provided in partnership with the
Horticultural Society, beautification projects such as flower
planters, benches, waste containers, and street banners.
The Clock Tower and Gardens were built in 2002, and the
Peacekeepers Park in 2005.
In 2016, the population of Angus approaches 10,000
and the community continues to prosper. New roads,
bridges, intersections, public transportation, parks and
trails contribute to the appeal of living in a small, friendly
community. Local employment is offered at Honda, Decast
(formerly Munro Concrete), other manufacturing and many
retail opportunities, as well as on CFB Borden. Angus
provides a high quality of life, with most daily needs just
around the corner or down the street, and larger urban
centres such as Alliston, Barrie, and Toronto are all within
easy reach.
2016 - 100th Anniversary
Camp Borden / Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Borden
In the summer of 1916, almost 60 years
after J. Tar Bush and W. Proudfoot laid out
streets & building lots in what was then
called the village of “Pine River” (renamed
Angus in 1857), Camp Borden was officially
opened by Sir Sam Hughes, the Minister of
Militia and Defense. Camp Borden was
named after Sir Frederick Borden, the
Minister of Militia from 1896 to 1911.
Canada, as a colony of Britain, had
been providing forces to the efforts of the
First World War in Europe. Since war
had broken out in 1914, the Government
of Canada was faced with the task of
training large bodies of men. The country
was searched for suitable “camp sites”.
The sand plains of Simcoe County were
selected for Ontario due to their central
location, accessibility, good water supply,
and the sandy nature of the soil which is
essential for good drainage.
By early 1916, the Canadian government
had assumed the 20 square mile (12,000
acre) tract of land west of Barrie for use
as a training ground for the much needed
troops of the Canadian Expeditionary
Force. After the Simcoe Foresters (157th
Battalion) cleared the land and constructed
the camp, it was soon occupied by almost
32,000 troops.
Over the course of the First World War,
Camp Borden trained more than half of the
650,000 troops who served in the Canadian
Expeditionary Force. Many of those went
on to fight in the Battle of Vimy Ridge in
1917.
Camp Borden had over 11 miles of
training trenches built to provide the
soldiers of the First World War with the
realities in the European campaigns such
as the Battle of Vimy Ridge (ending in
April 1917). The training conducted here
prepared soldiers for the new concept of
“Trench Warfare”. November 11, 2011
(Remembrance Day) marked the unveiling
of the recently restored training trench in
CFB Borden.
During 2016 there will be many
significant events taking place in and
around the now Canadian Forces Base
(CFB) Borden to commemorate the 100th
anniversary. Centennial Chairperson, Rick
Kurtzer, and the organizing committee
have been planning the celebrations for the
past two years. Events include a Freedom
of the City Parade, Patriating of Vimy
Battleground Soil Ceremony, Memorial
Wall Unveiling, Centennial Ball, Armed
Forces Day & Air Show, Quarter-Guard
Ceremonies, Peacekeepers Day Parade,
and Remembrance Day. A commemorative
coin for the Centennial has been made and
is available for purchase at the CAN-EX
store and the Base Museum is compiling
a history book.
Pinewoods Chapel is a Christian
Community Church that was started
in Angus in 1961. It has been a
fixture in the community through its
programming and care of people
in Angus over the years. In our
new location we will continue to be
involved in the Community of Angus
through our support of Community
programs such as: Al-anon, Good
Food Box, The Door, The Early Years
Center and the Breakfast Programs
at local schools. Our new site will
have many amenities that will be
useful for the community of Angus.
As a community organization we have
designed our facility so that groups
and individuals throughout the year
can use it for weddings, funerals and
The Blackdown Cadet Training Centre
(BCTC) is Canada’s largest Cadet training
centre. Throughout the year, BCTC provides
unique and challenging training opportunities
to Ontario’s 17,000+ members of the Royal
Canadian Sea, Army and Air Cadets and plays
host to countless members of the Reserve
Forces and civilian police service organizations
who also use the diverse facilities to conduct
their own training.
Nestled in the South-west corner of CFB
Borden, Blackdown supports the training of
more than 27,000 visitors. 3200 course cadets,
240 staff cadets, and 230 adult staff are annually
housed and trained during the summer period,
while nearly 15,000 others will participate in
training at BCTC during the rest of the training
year along with over 4,000 external personnel.
The Blackdown Cadet Training Centre is
almost entirely self-contained with sleeping
quarters for up to 2400 personnel, its own
kitchen and dining hall, laundry, medical
inspection facility, parade square, air rifle
range, abseil tower, sports fields, confidence
course, rope bridge & traverse site, basketball
& volleyball courts, two air conditioned band
buildings, a large canteen, and a myriad of
trails for hiking. During summer operations,
Blackdown also boasts its own medical staff,
Military Police and Fire Detachments.
Blackdown’s mission is to contribute to the
development and preparation of youth for the
transition to adulthood, enabling them to meet
the challenges of modern society and become
the leaders of tomorrow through a dynamic
series of fun, challenging, well-organized and
safe activities.
These cadets travel from all over the
province to take part in specialty training
courses where they will expand their knowledge
and leadership skills. These graduates then
bring these new skills back home to be leaders
in their cadet units, their schools, families, and
their communities. The courses offered at the
training centre include: general training, music,
sports and fitness, survival and expedition,
as well as drill & ceremonial, and leadership
courses.
The training centre actively participates in
numerous community service & citizenship
initiatives in the local area. Whether it is
assisting with park & trail clean ups or providing
bands and music for parades & ceremonies or
supporting local charity runs and campaigns
or even just coming out to cheer on the local
sports teams, there is a very strong community
connection between Blackdown and the
surrounding area.
“Blackdown is the home of Canada’s
Finest” says Lieutenant-Colonel Jack Kelly,
the Training Centre’s Commanding Officer.
“These cadets learn skills that will apply to any
career they choose. Building attributes like
teamwork, communication, teaching, planning,
The Blackdown Cadet
Training Centre
and leadership are solid foundations for these
leaders of tomorrow no matter where they end
up. “
these amazing youth are accomplishing by
Since 1947, over 160,000 members of Canada’s
Armed Forces, Police Services and Diplomatic service
have served on United Nations sanctioned missions
around the world. Peacekeepers’ Park was created to
recognize the service of Canadians who have served, past
and present. The park memorializes the 283 Canadians
who were killed while serving. This includes the 158 who
died in Afghanistan. The park and stone plaque have just
been registered in the National Inventory of Canadian
Military Memorials.
Major planned expansion will recognize all missions.
We are seeking contributions from all levels of Canadians;
from individuals to corporations. Our association is a notfor-profit
organization and therefore cannot issue receipts
for income tax purposes. Contributions of over $71,000
to date have permitted construction of a Wall of Honour
to commemorate those who have given their lives in the
Service of Peace.
The 2 1/2 acre property in Angus has been leased
from the Township of Essa. The township maintains the
park. The Peacekeepers’ Association is partnered in
this endeavor with The Royal Canadian Legion (Edward
Macdonald Branch 499) in Angus and the Township of
Essa. What better way to commemorate those who made
the ultimate sacrifice and to acknowledge all who have
served under the UN banner.
This ambitious project needs to raise sufficient funds to
complete the next phase of the park. The funds raised will
be used exclusively for the construction and maintenance
of the park. We are reaching out to individuals, groups,
service clubs and organizations for their help with this very
worthwhile project. All contributions, no matter how big or
small are gratefully accepted. Those making a donation
of $1,000 or more will be recognized as a ‘Friend of
Peacekeepers’ Park’, a list that has grown steadily over
the past few years. These names will be inscribed on a
section of the wall. A contributor may choose to have an
engraved plaque placed on a bench. The benches, with a
plaque, are available for $1,600 each. They will be placed
strategically around the pathway (wheelchair accessible)
bordering the 18 pedestals that will record the 61 missions
Canadians have served on since 1947. Pedestals may
also be purchased for $1,400 each.
To make a donation, or for more information on this
significant fundraising effort, and community project,
please contact the project coordinator Bob George at
gayle.bobgeorge@rogers.com or 705-796-3748. We
hope you will take this opportunity to make a difference
in helping to expand Peacekeepers’ Park, which will stand
for generations to come.
Come on out on August 9 for Peacekeepers Day at the park.
All welcome! Peacekeepers Day is a nationally recognized
day of remembrance since 2008.
Angus & Area Community Guide 2016 - 15

In 1920 Angus became a Police Village,
in 1923 the Ontario Forestry Tree Seed Plant
was built, in 1926 volunteers applied to the
province to form a horticultural society. While
waiting they created the Angus Community
Park across from the Seed plant.
In 1929 the “Angus Horticultural Society”
was officially formed. Monthly meetings
were held at the Seed Plant. Some original
members have descendants still living in
Angus.
During the 1930’s the Society fundraised
to purchase connecting land to the existing
cemetery. Trees and brush were cleared to
create the “Angus Union Cemetery” located
on Vernon Street.
In 1937 members created a garden
on Curtis Street to honour the Coronation
of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth,
parents of our present Queen. A Union Jack
was raised, a dated stone laid, trees planted
and a WWI artillery gun was placed. Over
years, the gun was sold and the stone was
lost. In 2002, the original stone was found,
re-dedicated and officially named the “Old
Stone” Garden. Some original trees are still
alive at this location.
In 1938 the Society purchased land
through fundraising and donations to build
a War Memorial honouring residents who
died in WWI. The Cenotaph stands today
honouring all residents who died in wars.
Since 2000, the following gardens were
created: Millennium Gardens, Farewell
Gardens, Clock Tower Gardens/Gazebo
and Peace Gardens at the Nottawasaga
Bridge. 27 Flowering Crab Apple Trees have
been planted with our “Angel” fundraiser.
The Clock Tower Gardens won 1st prize
for Communities in Bloom 2013 and the
International Plowing Match 2014.
Drysdale’s Tree Farms...
A destination for the seasons
For the past 90 years the Drysdale family has been synonymous with
good forest stewardship. From 1926 by Reg Drysdale, then by son Doug,
and grandson Doug Jr. During this time, Christmas trees have been grown
on their farms in Flos, Whitchurch-Stouffville, West Gwillimbury, and Essa
Township. Reg was a teacher turned tree farmer, Doug a Forester graduate
from the University of Toronto (1955), and Doug Jr. also a graduate of U
of T (1980). Reg was a founding member of the Christmas Tree Growers
Association of Ontario in 1951, and served on the board of directors for 35
years. He was inducted into both the Simcoe County and the Ontario (1997)
Agricultural Halls of Fame.
The “cut your own” concept of tree sales at Ballantrae (Whitchurch-
Stouffvile Township) in 1958, was added to traditional wholesale of trees
to tree lot retailers across North America. This marketing initiative created
memories of family outings in the country to obtain a Christmas tree. The 400
acre farm in Essa Township has carried that on, and now approximately 50%
of the visitors are tourists from more than 40 km away. In 1984 landscape
trees and services were added to the offerings of Drysdale’s. Wedding,
family, and corporate events are also offered, ranging from 1800 to 5500 sq
ft. Drysdale’s employs 30 regular staff, and up to 100 staff during the busy
Christmas weekends. In 1990 and 2003, Drysdale’s was Best Tree Farm in
Canada.
• Christmas Weekend Festivities (no admission fee) Cut-Your-Own tree,
horse-drawn wagon rides, The Evergreen Store, Santa & Mrs Claus,
magician, train rides, face-painters, and more. Each weekend of
December, until Christmas.
• Drysdale’s Easter Egg Hunt (admission fee) Wagon Ride, Easter Egg
Hunt, Face-painting, and Treat Bags. Easter weekend.
• Spring Garden & Home Decor in The Evergreen Store, and full service
Landscape Nursery. From mid-April.
• Halloween Weekend Festivities (admission fee) Harvest Village
including and Haunted Wagon Ride through the Frightful Forest
Utopia...
Being True to its Name
The agricultural roots of both past
and present are spreading in leaps and
bounds in the rural hamlet of Utopia and
across Essa Township. Driven with the long
term vision of preserving and celebrating
agriculture and naturalized greenspaces
in our community, the effort that is backing
this up includes the restoration of Bell’s
Gristmill, caring for the Utopia Conservation
Area and renewing the Utopia Community
Centre (now known as the “Utopia Hall”) as
the activity hub for “all things Utopian”.
At the Utopia Conservation Area, Phase
I of the restoration of Bell’s Gristmill began
in 2015 focusing on structural and exterior
improvements with more work to be done
into the future. The orchard, created
through an Edible Trees grant from Tree
Canada, will be entering its 3rd full season,
supported with surrounding native plants
to welcome bees and other pollinators to
both do their work and have a meal. And
a fabulous walking trail has been created,
tended through the devoted, grooming
attention of a very special volunteer who
takes great pride in creating such a special
place for all to come, walk and enjoy.
Down the road at the Utopia Hall,
it’s also a happening place. Whether
it’s a fun movie night or a great concert
featuring the extraordinary talents of
travelling and local musicians who stop by
to share their harmonies, the atmosphere
is welcoming and at-home-comfortable.
Food celebrations are becoming even
more creative now with the addition of a
commercial community kitchen, supported
through Farm Credit Canada, allowing
for food entrepreneurs to have access
to a food-creating venue to further their
work. The Utopia Hall is also the place to
be every Saturday morning from 10am –
noon when the Happy Hens of Utopia fill
your cup with freshly brewed coffee and
tea and put on a spread of home-baked
bread topped (or not) with yummy jams
& jellies and local eggs, along with the
sharing of stories of the many happenings
of near and far. Add annual events such as
SEEDY SATURDAY, the Compost Sale,
Canada Day celebration, the Gristmill
Run, the Sunflower Harvest Festival,
SOUPALICIOUS UTOPIA and SANTA
PAWS and your “what to do” questions are
solved.
Come out and join us as we celebrate
our life in Utopia and Essa Township;
everyone is warmly welcome.
Angus Transit
New to the Township of Essa in 2013 is the transit service connecting
Borden and Angus to the City of Barrie. This new service comes as a result
of a transit feasibility study conducted in 2011 which gathered residents’
feedback to determine if a transit system was needed. The bus service takes
residents directly to the Allandale GO station in Barrie. Residents will then
need to transfer to the Barrie Transit system to get to their destination within
Barrie.
If you are looking to board the bus to take you to your destination, then
keep your eyes posted. Blue and white signs have been strategically placed
within Borden and Angus to help identify where the bus stops are in your area.
Bus passes are available at the Economic Development Centre located in
the Angus Recreation Centre. For more information on fares please refer to
our Fee Schedule.
The transit service is something the Township of Essa wishes to grow on
and expand in the future. Please communicate any feedback you may have to
assist us in improving the transit service by contacting the Executive Assistant
to the CAO and Manager of Public Works at 705-424-9770 extension 105 or
by email llinton@essatownship.on.ca.
For information on routes and locations
of stops as well as fares and bus
passes please visit the transit page at
Buy Local...Shop Angus
On behalf of the local businesses
in and around Angus, the Chamber of
Commerce continues its “Buy Local,
SHOP ANGUS” campaign. Local
stores and businesses contribute
greatly to the local economy and
health of a community.
Why shop at a locally
owned or managed business
first?
Local businesses...
• Are more likely to have local
products and services.
• Compete with friendlier customer
service & competitive prices.
• Provide local jobs to others
& school co-op placement
opportunities.
• Contribute to local fund raising,
sports, culture, and service
clubs.
• Pay significant property taxes
which fund municipal services
such as roads & parks.
• Support other local businesses.
• Have a vested interest in the
good health of the community.
Shopping local also means fewer
miles driven in your car, using less of
your valuable time and significantly
reducing pollution.
All of the points noted above attract
growth which fosters greater diversity,
competition, and helps Angus
maintain its unique appeal. Look for
the white “Angus & Area Chamber of
Commerce” and the blue “Buy Local
SHOP ANGUS” stickers where you
shop or conduct business.
The Angus Lions Club
Since 1962 the Angus Lions have
served the community of Angus and the
surrounding areas. Made up of like minded
volunteers our membership has tirelessly
devoted itself to helping those in need.
Our causes include local assistance for
organizations, Camp Dorset, Camp Joseph
and international relief funds.
We raise money through our regular
community events such as Canada Day,
making competitions. We also run the
Angus Arena concession stand evenings
and weekends with all profit going to fund
our programs.
Our strong relationships with local
businesses and government create an
atmosphere of co-operation and support of
events such as the Santa Claus parade and
endeavors such as the Essa Library
Our hall located on Mill St. on the banks
of the Nottawasaga river, is host to a
number of events such as weddings, parties
and markets and can be rented at any time.
We have a fully licensed bar and complete
kitchen and can accommodate up to 100
people.
On the first Thursday of each month
discuss correspondence, issues in the
community and club, committee reports and
just as important, we strengthen our bonds
of friendship, good humour and common
purpose.
The Angus Lions always welcome
guests to our dinner meetings, and
encourage anyone who would like to “give
back” to contact us and come on out to
meet our members and consider joining our
For the Greater Good...
The Angus Food Bank, The Door
& The Helping Hand
The Angus Food Bank was established in 1986 by Salvation Army
Outreach Pastor, Dana Dean. It first opened its doors in a basement
of a home and moved to many different locations until finding its home
behind the Angus Arena, next to the NPSS.
Run by 12 volunteers, the Angus Food Bank offers assistance
to approximately 60-80 local families per month usually including 40
or more children. Serving Angus and surrounding areas, the Angus
Food bank could not help as many families as they do without the
support of the amazing community. Businesses, Churches, Groups
and individuals are to be thanked for the success of the Food Bank
and their continued growth.
Donations of non-perishable food items, hygiene products, baby
food/diapers, and even dog/cat food are always welcome along with
monetary donations to be used for purchase of perishable items.
Although Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas are crucial times for
the Food Bank, donations are always needed year-round.
The Door Youth Center in Angus is a hidden gem located behind The
Angus Recreation Centre, just off Mill Street. Being a close neighbour of
the new high school excites us greatly! The location is the perfect spot for
youth ages 13-18 to get together in a safe environment to play pool, video
games or just relax and watch a movie. The Door is part of Highlands Youth
for Christ which reaches out to the youth in our communities and reveals
the way Jesus Christ taught us to treat one another. We believe that
whatever background or troubles young people encounter they deserve
to be treated with dignity and respect and to experience the unconditional
love of Christian philosophy.
The Door also has a music night once a month where any youth can
bring an instrument or their voice and jam with one another. Currently the
centre is open Fridays from 7 to 10pm. We would like to be open during the
week and on Saturdays but we need more volunteers to make it happen.
Anyone interested in volunteering or for information about the
centre can contact our office and leave a message and someone will
get back to you as soon as possible. Call 705-424-9682 or email us at
office@ highlandsyfc.com
The Helping Hand New to You Store has been servicing
Angus and area for over 15 years. We are a non-profit
organization accepting donations of gently used clothing
and household items.
You can find beautiful artwork, china, seasonal items,
housewares, electronics, music, movies and a great
assortment of books. Clothing and footwear are available
for the entire family including a large variety of baby items.
Watch out for bag sales, 1/2 price days, basket draws etc.
We are run by a volunteer board and all members who
work in the store volunteer their time. Over the last 2 years
we have donated over $45,000.00 back into the community.
This year will mark the 7th Anniversary of the Angus & Area Chamber
of Commerce. The AACC has proudly grown to encompass local and
surrounding area members whom represent a wide variety of products and
services such as retail stores, professional business services, contractors,
home based businesses, community groups and more. In addition to
the Chamber’s role as an advocate for business, we continue to bring
educational and networking opportunities along with other benefits to our
members.
For more information on how to become a member, please visit www.anguschamber.com or
email info@anguschamber.com.
The AACC created and promotes the “Buy Local SHOP ANGUS” campaign and firmly believes it is of
significant benefit to local and area communities as a whole. Customers not only obtain competitive prices
but also superior customer service, often getting to know the business owners and their staff personally.
