Olympics in red.<br />

<strong>The</strong> flag has the colour logo in the middle on a white<br />

background. This flag was introduced circa 1968 (Fig. 14).<br />

CISM – Conseil <strong>International</strong>e du Sport<br />

Militaire<br />

<strong>The</strong> CISM uses the playing field to unite armed forces<br />

<strong>of</strong> countries that may have previously confronted each<br />

other because <strong>of</strong> political <strong>and</strong> ideological differences.<br />

By doing so, <strong>and</strong> as is outlined by its philosophy <strong>and</strong><br />

the ideals stated in its mission statement signed by all<br />

member countries in 1998, CISM is contributing to<br />

building world peace. <strong>The</strong> CISM was founded on 18 th<br />

February 1948 in Nice.<br />

Logo: In gold the hilt <strong>of</strong> the sword <strong>and</strong> the palms; in<br />

silver or grey the oceans on the map, the five blades <strong>of</strong> the<br />

swords; in white the continents, the mention “ Conseil<br />

<strong>International</strong>e du Sport Militaire” , on royal blue ground;<br />

<strong>and</strong> the five circles in red (Fig. 16a).<br />

<strong>The</strong> colour logo is located in the middle <strong>of</strong> the flag.<br />

<strong>The</strong> background is white with a border in royal blue,<br />

border is 1/16 <strong>of</strong> length. Proportions are 2:3. This flag<br />

was introduced circa 1950 (Fig. 16).<br />

FISU – Fédération <strong>International</strong>e du<br />

Sport Universitaire<br />

<strong>The</strong> Universiades are open for students from 17 to 28<br />

years old.<br />

<strong>The</strong> <strong>of</strong>ficial FISU emblem was inspired by the “U” from<br />

university accompanied by five stars that symbolise the<br />

five continents. <strong>The</strong> original emblem was created by the<br />

C.U.S.I. (Italian University <strong>Sports</strong> Centre) during the<br />

Universiade 1959. And was changed in 1989.<br />

<strong>The</strong> emblem consists <strong>of</strong> a black letter U on a white<br />

background, centred over five stars divided into two<br />

lines. <strong>The</strong> three upper stars are from left to right respectively:<br />

blue (Pantone Process Blue), black (Pantone Process<br />

Black) <strong>and</strong> red (Pantone Warm Red); <strong>and</strong> the two
