Strong partnerships are crucial to our success. As we embark upon our 36 th year BESLA’s

us extend our capacity to provide professional and networking opportunities to our members
and monetary support to the next generation of minority attorneys.

refer business, sharpen skills and support those working in and interested in working in
these highly competitive fields. As many of our members heard at the Black Lives Matter panel
during our annual conference, this work contributes to the big issues facing communities of
color—access to education, workplace opportunities, and building community wealth. So
though we are proud of our legacy, it is important that we continue to move forward. We hope

The program of events for 2016 includes a return to Fordham University in New York City for
our Mid-Year Conference, regional events in Los Angeles, Atlanta, Washington D.C., St. Louis,
and Chicago, and the 36 th Annual Conference in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. The following pages
contain more information about how you can support us in 2016 and a look at one of our longest
corporate partners and BESLA’s 2015 Corporate Diversity Honoree-- NBCUniversal.

Membership
BESLA members are attorneys who are partners and associates at leading law firms, in-house counsel
at entertainment, sports and related industry organizations, solo practitioners, agents, managers, law school
faculty and administrators, business executives in entertainment, sports and related industries, industry
advocates, financiers, financial advisors, agents, and managers, among others.
Membership is also extended to law students, and part of our programming is specifically targeted to their
training and growth through seminars, mentoring and scholarship opportunities.
The organization has a network of 2,500 supporters throughout the continental United States, Europe, and the
Caribbean, including strong relationships with law school students and faculty.
Average attendance at regional events is 100-150 and over 400 attorneys, executives, entertainers and
students attend the annual conference and/or the mid-year conference. Average attendance at the mid-year is
approximately 200 folks.
