I am Mother Teresa<br />
1910 – 1997<br />
Although Albanian, I lived most of my life in India<br />
where I was devoted to serving the poorest of the<br />
poor. I founded the Missionaries of Charity to run<br />
hospices and homes <strong>for</strong> people with HIV/AIDS,<br />
leprosy and tuberculosis; soup kitchens;<br />
dispensaries and mobile clinics; children’s and family<br />
counselling programmes, orphanages and schools.<br />

As Pope, I teach that our Church should be<br />
more open and welcoming; that we must<br />
reveal the merciful face of God. I have put<br />
mercy into action by establishing a large<br />
dormitory <strong>for</strong> the homeless of Rome as well<br />
as public bathrooms and showers <strong>for</strong> them.<br />
I have welcomed Syrian refugee families to live<br />
in the Vatican City.
