afternoon tea. It includes sandwiches, home-baked cakes and scones, served up
on a tiered cake stand - it certainly makes a great occasion.

Thurlestone Hotel's a haven of peace and
tranquility with excellent facilities, outstanding
fine dining, stunning views and walks.
It's often said it's great to 'get away
from it all' and Thurlestone Hotel
can certainly claim to have the
perfect solution. The surrounding
countryside and the hotel itself
provide the perfect combination
for both relaxation and enjoyment.
Firstly, this section of South Devon
coastline is stunning, the landscape
of rugged cliffs, coves and beaches
is unforgettable. I found myself
tracking the progress of the sun
across the landscape, and the ebb
and flow of the tide across the bay.
The hotel's the perfect place to
watch these transitions play out,
either from your bedroom, terrace,
or from the panoramic dining room.
Venturing outside the hotel, you're
able to enjoy relaxed walks in a
variety of directions, either down
to the beach - there's a lovely little
cafe where you can enjoy the views,
or you can take the coastal path to
Bantham Beach which provides you
with a visual feast. Looking across
from the headland, you are able to
see Burgh Island and also watch the
surfers enjoying the waves breaking
across the bay. If the tide's out, you
can enjoy a drink and sandwich at
the ancient Pilchard Inn on Burgh
Island (do watch the tide though)
or the Sloop Inn at Bantham. We've

The Hotel itself is excellent, blessed
with great facilities, such as tennis/
squash courts, golf course, indoor
and outdoor swimming pools, an
extensive spa and fitness centre, the
list goes on and on. It's great to have
these facilities, especially if you have
younger members of the family who
Panoramic views (from the bedroom) with the unique Thurlestone Rock in the distance. Literally hours can be spend just sitting back and enjoying the views.
