We offer ready-made frames for an easy<br />
insertion of the window. The black powder<br />
coated metal frames are suitable for window<br />
thicknesses up to 9-10 mm. Fixed in the frame<br />
the laser protection window can easily be built<br />
in a laser cabin, a wall or into doors..<br />

<strong>Laser</strong> exit windows to protect the high<br />
quality laser optics against sparks or dust<br />
etc. commonly are made from standard glass<br />
and normally have to be replaced frequently<br />
as a wear part. Our saphir laser windows are<br />
reusable and can be cleaned without damages<br />
on the surface > 10000 times. The substrate<br />
is almost as hard as diamond and scratch<br />
resistant. The unilateral R1 coating is designed<br />
for 1064 nm. The maximum dimension is 50<br />
mm coated (standard sizes 25.4 mm and 17.2<br />
mm from stock) and uncoated 160 mm.<br />
<strong>Laser</strong> <strong>safety</strong> fi lters<br />
<strong>Laser</strong> <strong>safety</strong> fi lters are for example used in<br />
optics, in microscopes, as attachment protection<br />
for monitoring cameras, in measurement<br />
technique, etc. We supply mineral glass<br />
or special plastic <strong>safety</strong> fi lters for almost any<br />
laser wavelength/application and/or protective<br />
fi lters for combinations of different<br />
wavelengths.<br />
We provide absorbing fi lters made from special<br />
plastic material and mineral glass, with or<br />
without lamination, or refl ecting fi lters with<br />
di-electrical coatings in various dimensions<br />
and sizes. Some fi rst information on the technical<br />
specifi cations of our standard fi lters can<br />
be obtained from column “<strong>Laser</strong> Protection<br />
Eyewear”. All fi lters supplied in our laser <strong>safety</strong><br />
eyewear can of course be supplied in single<br />
pieces, too. Furthermore, we are able to produce<br />
custom-made fi lters to match your specifi<br />
c application (also combination of various<br />
wavelengths in one fi lter).<br />
All fi lters in our laser <strong>safety</strong> eyewear can of<br />
course be supplied as fi lters for mounting in<br />

Due to its multi-layer design made from<br />
highly absorbing textiles and other specifi c<br />
materials the curtain provides a substantially<br />
longer durability against direct laser hit and<br />
diffused laser radiation compared to e.g. ordinary<br />
welding curtains. All used materials are<br />
100 % silicone-free. The curtain is tested and<br />
certifi ed according to the standard EN 12254<br />

Single mobile laser screens can be equipped<br />
with Aluminium fl at profi les as sealing strip<br />

screens can be interlocked by clamping lever<br />
or knurled screws. In order to assemble several<br />
laser screens in 90° angle for shielding in<br />

The EyeMag® Smart medical loupes from<br />
Carl Zeiss are now available with a sports<br />
frame featuring special laser <strong>safety</strong> lenses<br />
and eyepiece protection. Thanks to their<br />
outstanding optical properties, EyeMag Smart<br />
medical loupes support laser therapy with<br />
2.5x magnifi cation for a good overview of<br />
the treatment area and make even the fi nest<br />
detail visible. Bright fi lters ensure good color<br />
vision, therefore allowing laser procedures on<br />

EyeMag Smart with laser protection offers<br />

in the range 1030-1064 nm. The combination<br />

The windows are made of a laminated glass<br />
and include both passive and active protection.<br />
In case radiation occur on the window, critical<br />
changes are detected and effect a safe<br />
shutdown of the laser source before unduly<br />
radiation above the Accessible Emission Limits<br />
(AEL) may harm the user. The permanent<br />
monitoring of the activation cycle prevents a<br />
restart after irradiation and possibly damage<br />
to the protective window. Thus, even a safe<br />
operation in automatic operation of the laser<br />
is possible without a constantly supervising by<br />
the user.<br />
Active protective function:<br />
The active protection windows are suitable<br />
for lasers with powers in the multi-kW range.<br />
The precise dimensioning is based on the laser<br />
power, power density in the case of failure and<br />
the shut-off time of the laser <strong>safety</strong> circuit<br />
(e.g. laser radiation with 1 kW, beam diameter<br />
5 mm, corresponding to a peak power density<br />
of 7.6 kW / cm², gives a typical delay for the<br />
laser shut-off time of 50 ms. The peak power<br />
density was calculated by a factor of 1.5 from<br />
the average power density.<br />
IR viewers<br />
Infrared viewers allow the visibility of IRradiation<br />
up to 2000 nm. They are ideal for<br />
alignment of IR-lasers (e.g. Ti:Sa, Nd:YAG, Dye<br />
lasers and IR laser diodes). With IR viewers<br />
one can recognize -different to IR detector<br />
cards- also low level scattered light.<br />
IR viewers are handy tools for e.g. laser <strong>safety</strong><br />
offi cers to check the security of laser cabins or<br />
the technician who wants to aligne the path<br />
of the laser beam. With these hand-held IR<br />
viewers it will be possible to make invisible<br />
infrared laser radiation visible.<br />

The models of SM-3R series have a miniaturized<br />
high-performance infrared image<br />
converter. The spectral sensitivity in the near<br />
IR-range extends up to 2 µm. The SM3R is<br />
a lightweight and compact device. Thus it<br />
allows also facemask mounting for hands-free<br />
operation (option). The SM-3R comes with<br />
hand-held, IR-fi lter, pinholeattenuator, batteries<br />
and soft case.<br />
The models of ABRIS series are an excellent<br />
choice for most industrial and R&D applications.<br />
The S1-converter tube together with a<br />
high-quality objective offers a image resolution<br />
of 60 lines/mm. The spectral sensitivity<br />

Classifi cation of lasers according to DIN EN 60825-1<br />
According to the biological effect of laser radiation lasers are divided into laser classes.<br />
Important for a laser class is the defi nition of the maximum permissible exposure (MPE). The MPE is characterizing the level just no damage is to expect.<br />
Since 2004 there are 7 laser classes according to DIN EN 60825-1. The higher the number of laser class the higher the danger of the laser.<br />

We offer spectral measurements of your speciment. By using our spectral photometer Cary 6000i<br />
we can measure OD (optical density) and VLT (visible light transmission) of your material in the<br />
range from 190-1800nm upto OD 8+ without the necessity of grinding down the material.<br />
We supply a complete documentation with curves and scans.<br />

Your eyewear does not look brandnew anymore over the years of use? You want to be sure, that<br />
your eyewear is still safe and you can use it without any risk?<br />
A periodic inspection for possible <strong>safety</strong>-relevant defects is recommended, in particular the eyewear<br />
is used in a roughly environment. Specially when your eyewear shows scratches or other<br />
mechanical damages on the glass or polycarbonate fi lters, which can be detected with the naked<br />
eye already, we strongly recommend an inspection. Mechanical damages on the fi lters may lead<br />
to total or partial loss of the laser protection or to harmful scattered light.<br />
We offer a professional inspection of the function of your eyewear and possible cosmetical and<br />
<strong>safety</strong>-relevant damages. A complete cleaning of the fi lter and frame is included. For the inspection<br />
we have to charge 38,00 € net.<br />
Generally the inspection is made within one week. You will receive a detailed inspection report,<br />
respectively our quotation for the cost of necessary repair.<br />
We also inspect laser <strong>safety</strong> eyewear which you have not bought from us originally.<br />
Due to liability reasons we can make necessary repairs for our own <strong>product</strong>s, only. The inspection<br />
fee of 38,00 € is not applicable in case you place an order for repair.<br />
To determine the ideal laser <strong>safety</strong> eyewear it is required to calculate the necessary protection<br />
levels according to the standards. We offer our free calculation program proTECT to calculate<br />
these protection levels. On entering the laser parameters the program calculates the necessary<br />
protection levels and suggests the most suitable laser <strong>safety</strong> eyewear from our portfolio. The<br />

Legal regulations require that all personnel working in areas where there is a risk of exposure to<br />
hazardous laser radiation should wear appropriate eye protection. Hazards may also arise because<br />
of accidental refl ection of laser radiation, e.g. by refl ection from refl ective parts (including eye<br />
protectors), tilting or maladjustment of optical components.<br />
1. Before use, please check that the laser <strong>safety</strong> glasses that you are going to wear is suitable for<br />
this very laser. Please carefully compare wavelength, laser working mode and scale number.<br />
2. Before use, please check your laser <strong>safety</strong> glasses for possible damages. Damaged laser <strong>safety</strong><br />
glasses, fi lters which have undergone a colour change or glasses that were hit by a laser should<br />
not be used any more and have to be replaced. With coated fi lters, the protection may be impaired<br />
by even tiny scratches. Do not use eyewear with missing marking or where the marking is not<br />
readable.<br />
3. <strong>Laser</strong> <strong>safety</strong> glasses can be equipped with tinted fi lter glasses and can alter the colour vision.<br />
Please check if the recognition of panel lights, warning lights or warning signals is impaired.<br />
4. Tinted fi lter glasses can reduce the visible light transmission (VLT). If there is a visible light<br />
transmission of less than 20%, it is recommended to increase the intensity of illumination at the<br />
workplace. An additional source of illumination may be required.<br />
5. Please never look directly into the beam - not even with laser <strong>safety</strong> glasses / laser alignment<br />
glasses.<br />
6. <strong>Laser</strong> <strong>safety</strong> glasses are only intended to give protection against accidental laser radiation. Both<br />
limiting value and the stability tests are based on a maximum period of 5 seconds. Using laser<br />
<strong>safety</strong> glasses for other purposes is not allowed. <strong>Laser</strong> <strong>safety</strong> glasses are no sun glasses and they<br />
are not suitable to be worn in road traffi c.<br />
7. The limiting values as specifi ed in EN 207/208 have been simplifi ed on the safeside compared<br />
with the limiting values in EN 60825-1:1994. If you wish to use the EN 60825-1:1994 values,<br />
please carry out a special test to see whether the stability of the laser <strong>safety</strong> glasses against laser<br />
radiation is adequate for the specifi ed application.<br />
EN 207 - e.g. „1064 D LB8“<br />
The scale numbers LB1 to LB10 defi ne the power/energy density the laser <strong>safety</strong> glasses withstand<br />
a direct hit of the laser beamfor at least 5 seconds and/or 50 pulses. The limiting values are layed<br />
down in the standard EN 207. The scale number is useful only in combination with the wavelength<br />
range and the mode of the laser (D, I, R or M). The standard EN 207 includes instructions how to<br />
calculate the scale number and other general information.<br />
EN 208 - e.g. „633 RB1“<br />
The scale number RB1 up to RB5 defi ne the limiting power value of the laser for aligning purposes<br />
and is valid only for the soecifi ed wavelength. The limiting values are layed down in the standard<br />
