2014 Performance Highlights
Expenditure on environmental and social performance has remained high; in 2014 31% of the company’s capital expenditure was on
projects designed to improve environmental and / or social performance.
During 2014, Kingspan Insulation maintained the demanding BES 6001 certification for responsible sourcing for all Kooltherm, KoolDuct
and Therma insulation products and cavity closers manufactured at Kingspan Insulation Ltd.’s British manufacturing facilities, as well
as Chain of Custody certification with the Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest
Certification (PEFC).
Kingspan Insulation’s performance was recognised with a number of awards throughout 2014, including:
l Herefordshire Diamond County Awards – Winner, Best Large Company – May 2014 (Award for Contribution to the Community in
Herefordshire).
l Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce Awards – Winner, Manufacturer of the Year – July 2014.
l West Midlands Chamber of Commerce Awards – Winner, Manufacturer of the Year – Sept 2014.
l West Midlands Chamber of Commerce Awards – Winner, The Sustainability Award – Sept 2014.
In 2014 Kingspan Insulation was selected to participate in a platform monitoring social and environmental performance, as part of
Saint-Gobain’s procurement policy, as well as becoming members of Constructionline which has been adopted by a large number of the
industry’s Main Contractors, avoiding the need for pre qualification documents for each individual main contractor.
Action Plan
l Increase use of locally sourced materials wherever possible
(i.e. local to Selby and Pembridge respectively).
l Achieve certification to BRE BES 6001, for both sites and all
product lines, including the Kingspan TEK Building System
and OPTIM-R.

For the purposes of this metric, local is defined as
being within a 1 hour drive of either the Pembridge or
Selby sites. The raw materials used to make Kingspan’s
products are not included in this metric, because no local
sources of supply are available. Packaging and all other
purchases are included.
In addition, the company leases its cars from a non-local
leasing company, however, although for that reason it is
not reflected in the new metric, over 50% of the cars it
leases are physically supplied by car dealerships local to
the Pembridge site.

In 2014 Kingspan Insulation covered the roof of its Sherburn-in-Elmet
site with Photovoltaic (PV) panels, forming a giant array which was
officially commissioned on 7th October 2014 by Department of Energy
and Climate Change minister, Amber Rudd.
