8. Comparison of <strong>Asian</strong> cyclability <strong>in</strong>dex with other<br />
tools is provided below. Green boxes <strong>in</strong>dicate<br />
consideration of a particular parameter. Compar<strong>in</strong>g<br />
the <strong>in</strong>dexes <strong>in</strong> their orig<strong>in</strong>al form may not provide<br />
the best <strong>in</strong>sights as their developers clearly had<br />
different visions of what cyclability means and they<br />
are built to serve different purposes. While for<br />
BikeBR, the UBC Index and the US Index, cyclability<br />
strictly means the current ability and convenience<br />
of people to ride bikes <strong>in</strong> the city, the Australian<br />
Index and the Copenhagenize Index also <strong>in</strong>cluded<br />
some k<strong>in</strong>d of anticipation of future cyclability. In this<br />
perspective, they consider some <strong>in</strong>dicators which do<br />
not necessarily have an <strong>in</strong>fluence on the cyclability<br />
of the city yet – such as policies, implementation<br />
strategies, plans – as relevant criteria to assess the<br />
bike-friendl<strong>in</strong>ess of a city.<br />
As discussed earlier, different <strong>in</strong>dices compared here are<br />
