INSTRUCTOR BIOS
MARY KATE DILLON holds a BS in Nursing from
Simmons College, and is a certified spinning instructor
with over 5 years experience teaching spin classes.
She works as a school nurse, in addition to leading
enthusiastic spinning classes.
DENISE DRISCOLL has an MFA in Visual Arts from
the Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University and
a dual BA in Cultural Anthropology and Psychology
from the University of South Carolina. She teaches
Conceptual Development, Installation and Illustration
at the Art Institute of Boston as well as Drawing and
Mixed Media at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh’s Online
Division. She uses painting, drawing, sculpture and
printing to create collaborative installations that have
been shown at the Boston Center for the Arts, Babson
College, Bunker Hill Community College, Lesley
University, UMass-Amherst, Dana Hall Gallery, the
Natick Center for the Arts and Studio 370. Recent and

KATIE DRISCOLL has a dual MA from Simmons
College in Teaching and Gender and Cultural Studies.
She teaches Social Studies at Pollard Middle School
and has many years experience teaching SAT Prep
classes, first with Summit Educational Group, and then
for Needham Community Education since the fall of
2006.
DAN ENG started Barleycorn’s in 1998. He has been
instructing novices as well as experienced beer lovers
in the art of craft beer brewing for more than 13 years.
He also serves as a beer judge at the annual Great
International Beer Festival in Providence, R.I.
ROBERTO FIGEROA is a professional dancer and
teacher and Artistic Director of Rumba Y Timbal, a
dance company he founded in 2007. Since moving to
Boston in 2002, he has fallen in love with the world of
Salsa, as it reminds him of his life and culture growing
up in El Salvador. Roberto enjoys performing and
teaching in workshops all over the United States,

MICHAEL GALPERIN has achieved the title of
SAMBO Grandmaster from the World Martial Arts
Alliance, and was inducted into the Hall of Fame
by AAU-USA. He studied with one of the founders
of SAMBO in Russia, and has taught self-defense
Combat SAMBO both in Europe and the U.S. for
various law enforcement, military, and community
organizations for over 60 years. He is the founder and
President of the U.S. Combat SAMBO Assn.
LYNNE GODIN has been a quilt maker for over 20
years. She is a staff member at the Button Box, and
teaches many quilt making classes for adults, from
beginning to machine quilting. Lynne loves sharing
her passion for quilt-making with new quilters. For

BILL GOLDMAN holds a BA in Government
from Colby College and a MS in Accounting from
Northeastern University. He has taught high school
math since 2006, and began at Needham High School
in the fall of 2009. He has taught SAT Prep classes for
Needham Community Education since the fall of 2010.
SERENA GRATTAROLA has a MA from Harvard
University in Romance Languages and Literature
and a MA from the University of California in Italian
Language and Literature. Born and raised in Italy,
she received her Laurea in Lettere, summa cum laude
from the University of Padua in 1987. Serena has
taught college-level Italian classes at Hamilton College,
Harvard University, Smith College, and UCLA, as well
as classes in the Italian language and culture for adults
through the Dante Alighieri Society of Massachusetts
in Cambridge and the Harvard Extension School.
She very much enjoys teaching and promoting Italian
culture in the US. Her goal is to be able to transmit to
her students the same love and enthusiasm that she
feels for what she teaches.
