BEGINNING ITALIAN NEW

Italian is the language of art, classical architecture,
Renaissance beauty, and opera – as well as fabulous
food, full-bodied wines, fashion, and wonderful tourist
destinations! Join us for this advanced beginning
Italian class to further develop your language skills
for travel, dining out, and for a window into another
rich language and culture. Please note: this class
is geared for students who have taken a prior class
with Serena Grattarola, or have some introductory
knowledge of the Italian language. We will continue
to work on pronunciation, basic grammar and
vocabulary, and simple conversations on a variety of
topics, while also learning customs and aspects of the
Italian culture – all in a fun, interactive environment.
Suggested text: Prego! An Invitation to Italian, 8th
edition textbook, by Graziana Lazzarino (McGraw-Hill,
2012). Limited to 16.

BEGINNING SPANISH

Have you been thinking about learning Spanish?
Would you like to be able to speak our country’s
second language? Or, are you planning a trip to part
of the Spanish-speaking world? If you answered yes
to any of these questions, then this could be the class
for you! We will learn everyday vocabulary and useful
expressions and practice simple conversations in
class. The emphasis will be on speaking and listening.
We may even sing! Join us as we learn to speak
Spanish in a fun, relaxed and supportive atmosphere.

BEGINNING SPANISH – PART 2

This class is a continuation of the Beginning Spanish
class offered this past fall. We will continue to practice
basic conversations and learn vocabulary useful
for everyday situations and traveling in a Spanishspeaking
country. Using Spanish for Dummies as a
guide, more attention will be placed on the structure
of the language as we build fluency. The goal of this
class is to increase your confidence as a Spanish
speaker in a fun, relaxed, and supportive atmosphere!
Prerequisite: A beginning Spanish class or a basic
knowledge of Spanish, for example, familiarity with
numbers, colors, time, weather, family, food and basic
conversations. Suggested text: Spanish for Dummies,
2nd edition (includes a CD), by Berlitz, Susana Wald
and Cecie Kraynak, Wiley Publishing ISBN#978-0-470-
