12 DANCE INTRODUCTION TO BELLY DANCING Zehara Nachash, Instructor Are you looking for a great, unique way to get in shape? Join us for a fun, relaxed class to learn the basic moves of belly dancing, from hip circles to shimmies. You will gain a basic understanding of this ancient art form, all while improving your flexibility, coordination, and self-image. Each week, you will learn simple combinations. Each combination will slowly be integrated into a full choreography you can perform for family and friends – or simply practice on your own for fun. No previous dance instruction is necessary and all ages are welcome! Though this is an introductory class, those with some belly dance experience are also welcome to join; Zehara will use varied choreography to challenge all dancers. Wear comfortable clothing; no shoes required – we’ll dance barefoot, or you may bring socks. Each class will include a warm-up, tap basics, and short combinations danced to different styles of music, all in a fun, supportive atmosphere. Bachata is a style of dance that originated in the Dominican Republic. It is danced widely all over the world, but never identically in two places. The slow romantic music of bachata revolves around love, intimacy, and passion. This class will consist of partner dancing and solo footwork for when you want to play with the musicality in a song. Join us to experience the romantic and sensual qualities of Bachata dancing – and have fun learning this dance with the person you love!
