materials will be provided, but feel free to also bring<br />
any colorful paper scraps and assorted embellishments<br />
(buttons, string, etc.) to add to your creations. Enjoy<br />
an evening out being creative, and come home with a<br />
beautiful assortment of completed cards. A materials fee<br />
of $8 is payable to the instructor in class. Please bring a<br />

PARENT/CHILD GLASS<br />
FUSING WORKSHOP<br />

In this 2-hour workshop, you will learn the basics of<br />
glass fusing techniques and have fun playing with<br />
colors and shapes. Through a series of engaging<br />
exercises, parents and children will work together<br />
with precut glass pieces, glass frits and stringers,<br />
and glass powders and stencils. Each participant<br />
will create multiple small pieces, necklaces, and one<br />
small bowl or plate. Student creations will then be<br />
fused in the kiln after the class; fused items can then<br />
be picked up at the classroom the following week,<br />
on March 31 between 10am and 1pm, or after March<br />
31 at the Community Education office in the school<br />
administration building. A materials fee of $70 (per<br />
parent/child pair) is payable to the instructor for all tools<br />
and the selection of glasses. Students should bring<br />
safety goggles to class, and be sure to wear close-toed<br />
shoes. This class is appropriate for children 7-12 years<br />
old, when accompanied by a parent or other <strong>adult</strong>.<br />

INTRODUCTION TO<br />
GLASS FUSING<br />

Glass fusing involves permanently binding different<br />
pieces of glass at high temperature in a kiln. Using<br />
the extensive color palette from the Bullseye Glass<br />
Company, and through a series of fun exercises, you<br />
will discover the basics of glass fusing. In the first class,<br />
you will learn about tack-fusing and how to use stencils<br />
with glass powders and frits. In the second class, you<br />
will learn to make a ceramic fiber mold to create a ¼”<br />
thick relief tile with tinted glass float glass, and also<br />
create a fused 8” by 8” bowl or plate. Student creations<br />
will then be fused in the kiln after the class; fused<br />
items from the second class can be picked up at the<br />
Community Education office in the school administration<br />
building beginning Monday, April 9. A materials fee of<br />
$85 is payable to the instructor for all the tools and the<br />
selection of glasses. Students should bring a sketchpad<br />
and safety glasses to class, and be sure to wear closetoed<br />
shoes. Though the class will teach the basics of<br />
glass fusing, it is open to those with experie<strong>nce</strong> as well.<br />
High school students are welcome too! Limited to 10.<br />
