SneakPique Productions is a theater
community group that provides creative outlets
to anyone that wants to be part of a theatrical
production. The idea is to develop, produce, and
host stage productions, old-time-radio shows and
music concerts.
It all started in 2009 when a group of
Dickinson State University faculty, staff and
community members produced “The Marriage of
Bette and Boo.” “They had vested interest creating
a new and quality outlet for artistic expression in
the community,” says Josh Nichols, SneakPique
Productions president. “The idea evolved into
what is now an ever-expanding organization
for the arts. Our other goal was to support DSU
theatre and music students through creating
scholarships.”
SneakPique Productions is open to anyone
who wants to create and innovate. Members
are not just actors and actresses. They get the
opportunity to experience the different sides of
production including directing, running lights,
managing sound, promotion and advertising and
making costumes.

“One exciting aspect of this organization
is finding fresh talent in unexpected places,”
says Nichols. “One wouldn’t normally expect a
professor of accounting to act or direct, but that is
just one example of how SneakPique is reaching
the community in unexpected ways.”
Bringing culture and entertainment is another
goal of this organization. “SneakPique provides a
great service to our community! It provides a place
for people to be entertained and a place for people
like myself to entertain,” says Lance Rustand. “Not
only does it make a great show for the audience,
but it helps two people from two totally different
generations find things in common, things that are
different and things they agree or disagree about.
When it’s all done; we have a better understanding
and respect of each other and world we live in.”
Members look forward to continuing to
create, entertain and innovate. As Beth Skaare
concludes, “So far doing just the one show, I had a
blast and I can’t wait to do more!”
