We all remember where we were
Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2001, when at 8:45 a.m.
and 9:03 a.m. EDT (or 7:45 a.m. and 8:03
a.m. CT), the Twin Towers were viciously
attacked.
It’s hard to imagine that 10 years
ago, I was beginning my senior year of
high school. While in the office prior to
homeroom, a newscaster on TV explained
that a plane had crashed into one of the
Twin Towers. I then entered class, where
we turned on the news and watched in
horror as a second plane collided into the
second tower. At that moment, we knew
our world would never be the same.
Prior to graduation, many of my
classmates joined the military. Today, it’s
hard to believe that we are still engaged in
two wars. My prayers go out to the soldiers
(those who made the ultimate sacrifice and
those who fought or continue to fight) and
their families.
As the ten-year anniversary is upon
us, you may want to learn more and
reflect. One way to do so is by attending
Bismarck State College’s “September
11 Ten Years Later: Impact on the
Heartland,” Symposium scheduled Sept.
