The return of
the good life
The Aegon Surbiton Trophy returns to the ATP
calendar. Surrey Great, Ross Hutchins, and Fed Cup
Coach Judy Murray, talk of their memories of the
event over the years.

Summer marked the return of The
Aegon Surbiton Trophy to Surbiton
Racket and Fitness Club. After
an absence of eight years from
the Tour, a host of international
and top British players arrived in
South West London to compete
in the prestigious grass court
event. The Surbiton Trophy has a
long history of top players with
previous competitors including
Andy Roddick, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga,
Martina Navratilova and Sue
Barker to name just a few. The 2015
field included British talent such as
James Ward, Liam Broady and Dan
Evans and in the Ladies’ draw Tara
Moore and Naomi Broady joined
an exciting international field.
Club Director Roy Staniland,
who was instrumental in the event
returning to the players’ calendar,
has vivid memories of some of
the stars he’s previously seen
competing for The Surbiton Trophy
and said, “Roger Federer stands out
as someone who you could see had
a great future ahead of him but
so do the likes of Kei Nishikori, Ivo
Karlovic and even Andy Murray
