ARE YOU MOVING?<br />
If you will be moving over the Winter Break, you will need to provide<br />
updated Proof of Residency so your address can be changed.<br />
If your move takes you out of the Plano School District, and your child will<br />
not be returning to <strong>Otto</strong> Middle School after the Winter Break in January,<br />
you will need to sign a Withdrawal Form prior to December 18, 2015.<br />
Please contact Christi Van Laere in the Counseling Office as soon as possible<br />
regarding your address change, or the need to withdraw your student.<br />

We are excited to announce that December marks the<br />
beginning of AVID Recruitment time. AVID is a college<br />
preparatory program designed to help those students who<br />
are “in the middle”. The AVID curriculum is a rigorous<br />
curriculum designed to help students<br />
focus on and achieve their goals.<br />
Each will be enrolled in at least one honors class.<br />
The typical AVID candidate makes passing grades<br />
and does well on standardized tests.<br />
However, for any of a variety of reasons, this student is<br />
scoring in the 75 – 85 range in most classes.<br />
In the AVID elective class, this student will be<br />
given support by outside AVID trained tutors.<br />
Study skills lessons designed to boost their<br />
performance will be another focus.<br />
AVID students will also be exposed to motivational<br />
speakers and attend field trips<br />
designed to motivate them.<br />
