STABILITY OF TERRAIN AND BUILDING LAND<br />

IN THE CITY OF TUZLA<br />

Abstract<br />

This paper presents a GIS analysis on building land, in the city of Tuzla, from the aspect<br />

of stability of the ground. For the purposes of the Physical plan Tuzla Canton, was created a<br />

database of geospatial data, including the stability of the land too. But, but in that strategic<br />

public document, there is no data of the stability of the building land. For the city of Tuzla as<br />

well as most part of Tuzla Canton, a characteristic occurrence are landslides, and unstable part<br />

of the building area.<br />

Illegal construction is a phenomenon arose in the last few decades and greatly<br />

complicates the solution of the problem endangerment of buildings due to the instability the<br />

terrain. The consequences of the instability of building land, particularly of recent are reason<br />

to identify quantitative indicators of stability/instability of building land. Also, the analysis of<br />

spatial data taken from the Physical plan Tuzla Canton 2005-2025. Using GIS tools spatial<br />

analysis was made in order to determine the structure of building land in terms of stability.<br />

Operation overlapping layers of vector data of building land and land category for<br />

stability, GIS tools was done splitting polygon of stability field with polygons of building<br />

land order to get quantitative indicators on areas by the degree of stability of the building plot.<br />

As result of the analysis was generated a new set of spatial data, whose spatial representation<br />

made in vector form of polygons<br />

Results of the analysis are the new data/information that quantitatively describe<br />

proportions of this problem. Results are presented in tables/diagrams and maps. Cartographic<br />

representations of spatial data, jointly with alphanumeric data, are the best indicators of the<br />

results of this analysis, which is why it made map layout construction objects in terms of<br />

stability of the terrain in the urban part of the city of Tuzla.<br />
