Open House<br />

Invite your friends and family members to <strong>Oldenburg</strong> <strong>Academy</strong>'s<br />

Open House on Sunday, November 20 from 1-3 pm. Activities include<br />

touring the campus, meeting students, faculty, administrators,<br />

parents, and future classmates, registering for tuition certificate drawings,<br />

learning more about the schoolwide iPad program, and discovering<br />

the many opportunities that await students at <strong>Oldenburg</strong> <strong>Academy</strong>!<br />

GUIDANCE<br />

Seniors: remember to fill out and submit a pink transcript request for for EACH school to which you plan to<br />

apply, even if you use the online transcript request through Docufide. Again, you must fill out the pink form<br />

for each school. This is Mrs. Lancaster's official documentation that you have applied to a college/university<br />

and do wish to have your transcript submitted. <strong>The</strong>se forms can be picked up in the guidance office.<br />

Juniors and Seniors: be sure to register to take the SAT and/or the ACT! Below are test dates and registration<br />

Manchester College Junior Scholars Day<br />

High school juniors and their parents are invited to attend<br />

Junior Scholars Day, November 30 th<br />

2011<br />

8:30 AM - 2:30 PM<br />

Enhanced Telecommunications Corporation (ETC) and FRED (Foundations for Rural Education and Development)<br />

are offering the Leadership Learning Program, a hands-on approach to education. High school<br />

juniors and seniors from all over the US are invited to apply. 10-15 students will be selected and will be invited<br />

to spend a week in Washington D.C. with all expenses paid. During this time students will learn<br />

about government, civic affairs, and telecommunications.<br />

Applications are due to ETC (Attention: Anita Fledderman) by Tuesday, November 29, 2011.<br />

<strong>The</strong>re is an application and 3 essay questions that must be completed to be considered.<br />

*Applications must be completed because there is no way to save and continue at a later time. Be sure to<br />

read entire application thoroughly to avoid disqualification.<br />

WINTER THEATRE CAMP<br />

Winter <strong>The</strong>atre Camp<br />

Sponsored By <strong>The</strong> <strong>Oldenburg</strong> <strong>Academy</strong> Alumni Association<br />

Saturday, December 17 from 10 am to 3 pm<br />

All second through eighth graders are invited to join us on Saturday, December 17 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm<br />

in the <strong>Oldenburg</strong> <strong>Academy</strong> Auditorium for a one day theater camp. We have planned a day full of theatre<br />

games, exercises, improvisation, and ensemble building. Camp will be led by Stephen Hammoor '08.<br />

Make your reservation early, as participation in this camp is limited to the first 25 children who return their<br />

registration forms and payment. Go to www.oldenburgacademy.org and click on Alumni. <strong>The</strong>n choose the<br />

Winter <strong>The</strong>atre Camp tab to download the registration form. Cost is $15 per participant. Registration deadline<br />

is December 8.<br />

Bring a sack lunch or, for an additional $5.00, a box lunch from the Village Store will be provided. Orders for<br />

lunch will take place once all participants have been confirmed.<br />

HOBY LEADERSHIP PROGRAM<br />

Are you interested in a unique leadership experience? Would you like to attend a weekend-long conference<br />

in Indianapolis free of charge? Are you interested in participating in a program that empowers young people<br />

to excel as leaders? <strong>The</strong>n HOBY is for you!<br />

<strong>The</strong> mission of HOBY is to inspire and develop our global community of youth and volunteers to a life dedicated<br />

to leadership, service and innovation.<br />

One OA sophomore will be selected as a representative for the Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership program that<br />

will take place next summer at Butler University. <strong>The</strong> cost of the program will be covered by Student Council<br />

- there is no fee for the selected student from OA.<br />

Applications for HOBY are available outside Room 207, and completed applications are due no later than<br />

next Wednesday, November 23rd - the day before Thanksgiving break. See Mrs. Grills, Tessa Larimer, or<br />
