Twister Season Kickoff
Good luck to both the OA Swim Team and Boys Basketball team who
both kick off their season next week – all swimmers on Monday and
basketball players on Tuesday!
Open House
Invite your friends and family members to Oldenburg Academy's
Open House on Sunday, November 20 from 1-3 pm. Activities include
touring the campus, meeting students, faculty, administrators,
parents, and future classmates, registering for tuition certificate drawings,
learning more about the schoolwide iPad program, and discovering
the many opportunities that await students at Oldenburg Academy!
Everyone is welcome to attend.

GUIDANCE
Seniors: remember to fill out and submit a pink transcript request for for EACH school to which you plan to
apply, even if you use the online transcript request through Docufide. Again, you must fill out the pink form
for each school. This is Mrs. Lancaster's official documentation that you have applied to a college/university
and do wish to have your transcript submitted. These forms can be picked up in the guidance office.
Juniors and Seniors: be sure to register to take the SAT and/or the ACT! Below are test dates and registration
deadlines:

Manchester College Junior Scholars Day
High school juniors and their parents are invited to attend
Junior Scholars Day, November 30 th

Enhanced Telecommunications Corporation (ETC) and FRED (Foundations for Rural Education and Development)
are offering the Leadership Learning Program, a hands-on approach to education. High school
juniors and seniors from all over the US are invited to apply. 10-15 students will be selected and will be invited
to spend a week in Washington D.C. with all expenses paid. During this time students will learn
about government, civic affairs, and telecommunications.
Applications are due to ETC (Attention: Anita Fledderman) by Tuesday, November 29, 2011.
There is an application and 3 essay questions that must be completed to be considered.
*Applications must be completed because there is no way to save and continue at a later time. Be sure to
read entire application thoroughly to avoid disqualification.

WINTER THEATRE CAMP
Winter Theatre Camp
Sponsored By The Oldenburg Academy Alumni Association
Saturday, December 17 from 10 am to 3 pm
All second through eighth graders are invited to join us on Saturday, December 17 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm
in the Oldenburg Academy Auditorium for a one day theater camp. We have planned a day full of theatre
games, exercises, improvisation, and ensemble building. Camp will be led by Stephen Hammoor '08.
Make your reservation early, as participation in this camp is limited to the first 25 children who return their
registration forms and payment. Go to www.oldenburgacademy.org and click on Alumni. Then choose the
Winter Theatre Camp tab to download the registration form. Cost is $15 per participant. Registration deadline
is December 8.
Bring a sack lunch or, for an additional $5.00, a box lunch from the Village Store will be provided. Orders for
lunch will take place once all participants have been confirmed.

HOBY LEADERSHIP PROGRAM
Are you interested in a unique leadership experience? Would you like to attend a weekend-long conference
in Indianapolis free of charge? Are you interested in participating in a program that empowers young people
to excel as leaders? Then HOBY is for you!
The mission of HOBY is to inspire and develop our global community of youth and volunteers to a life dedicated
to leadership, service and innovation.
One OA sophomore will be selected as a representative for the Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership program that
will take place next summer at Butler University. The cost of the program will be covered by Student Council
- there is no fee for the selected student from OA.
Applications for HOBY are available outside Room 207, and completed applications are due no later than
next Wednesday, November 23rd - the day before Thanksgiving break. See Mrs. Grills, Tessa Larimer, or
