Having shown the impact of the 2005-2006 drought on the households<br />

from the two study villages, our next step is to find out the impact of<br />

famine at the two localities. As discussed in Chapter 6, 163 this analysis is<br />

done by understanding the death rates in the two study villages. Table 17<br />

shows the distribution of deaths per household for the two sites.<br />

Computation of the distribution of the deaths in Table 17 indicates that<br />

there were a total of 95 deaths at both Morulem and Lokichar. 84 of them<br />

(88.4 percent) occurred at Morulem as compared to 11 (11.6 percent) for<br />

Lokichar. In addition, most of the households at Morulem who recorded<br />
