AIM PrepZymes aids digestion with a combination of
nine cultured enzymes, bear garlic, and papaya fruit.
Digestive problems are the number one health problem in
North America, causing more time lost at work, school, and play
than any other health problem. Most people do not talk openly
about digestive ailments, such as constipation, hemorrhoids,
inflammatory bowel syndrome, and colon cancer. People of all ages
(including young children) are suffering from digestive conditions
more than ever before. Eating under stress and forgetting to chew
well are serious contributing factors, but one of the major reasons
for this digestive epidemic is our poor food choices.
Enzymes
All too often, we choose processed, refined, dead foods with little
or no nutrient value or live enzymes. Food enzymes are destroyed
by heat (cooking and pasteurizing), canning, microwaving, and
irradiation. This type of diet has been shown to contribute to the
development of chronic degenerative diseases. We have clearly
become an enzyme-deficient society. One way to help maintain
digestive health is to be sure you get enough nutritious foods
(including raw fruits and vegetables) and digestive enzymes.
Enzymes are essential to a healthy body because they transform
food into nutrients that our cells can use.
Enzymes are catalysts; they act like sparks to kick-start or speed
up thousands of essential chemical reactions that our bodies need
to live. The human body produces millions of enzymes every
second. Enzymes are necessary for providing cellular energy,
repairing all tissues, organs, and cells, for stimulating the brain, and
for digesting foods. This includes the absorption, transportation,
and metabolism of nutrients as well as
the elimination of waste.
Three Classes
Metabolic Enzymes catalyze
reactions within and between
our cells; some examples include
helping to turn phosphorus into
bone, attaching iron to our red
blood cells, healing wounds, and
making sure our hearts beat.
Digestive enzymes are secreted
by the salivary glands, cells in the
stomach lining, the pancreas, and
the gastrointestinal tract in order
to break down foods. Nutrients
can then be absorbed into the
bloodstream and used in a variety of
body functions.
Different kinds of enzymes target different nutrients, and they
are systematically named. For example, protease digests protein,
amylase digests amylose (starch/carbohydrates), lipase digests lipids
(fats and oils), maltase digests maltose (sugars often found in grains).
Food enzymes are supplied to us through fresh, uncooked
foods. They are the enzymes that make uneaten food decompose.
When we eat food while it is still fresh, food enzymes help us
“predigest” or break down the food for us before our bodies’
enzymes begin to do so.
The Importance of Enzymes
Enzyme theory is based on the pioneering work of Dr. Edward
Howell in the 1920s. Dr. Howell wrote two books on the subject
and theorized that humans are given a limited supply of enzyme
energy at birth, and that it is up to us to replenish our supply of
enzymes. If we do not replenish our supply, we run the risk of ill
health. Current research shows that as we age, we produce fewer
enzymes than we did in our youth, so it makes perfect sense that
digestion often suffers as we get older.
The Benefits of Enzymes
Consuming more enzymes assists the body’s own enzyme supply,
and proper digestion of food can lead to a healthier life. When foods
are properly broken down, we can extract (absorb) and utilize more
nutrients, giving our cells what they crave. For many people, this
results in being satisfied with a lesser quantity of food, which can
help maintain a stable weight. Proper digestion also helps prevent
toxic buildup in the digestive tract. When food remains in the
stomach or intestines, it rots and putrefies, producing bacteria and
toxins that can lead to constipation, bloating, gas, fatigue, weight
gain or weight loss, headaches, and more.
AIM PrepZymes
AIM PrepZymes ® is a blend of nine cultured enzymes with
enzyme-rich papaya fruit and bear garlic for additional antioxidant
benefit. Cultured enzymes are valuable because they are active in
both acidic and alkaline environments; the digestive tract has
a wide pH range (the stomach is very acidic and the intestines
are generally alkaline), so cultured enzymes are able to function
throughout the digestive tract. The enzymes are cultivated and
purified so that no fungi, bacteria or yeasts remain in the product.
The unique combination of enzymes in AIM PrepZymes ® has
been specially formulated to help digest a wide range of processed
foods so prevalent in today’s modern diet, including fats, proteins,
hidden sugars, dairy products, and snack foods.
Medicinal ingredients: (per vegetarian capsule)
Protease (Aspergillus oryzae) 25 mg
Protease (Bacillus subtilus) 25.6 mg
These enzymes digest protein in an acidic environment, such as
the stomach.
Alpha-Amylase (Aspergillus oryzae) 51 mg
Helps break down carbohydrates to their simplest form of energy.
Lipase (Aspergillus niger) 39 mg
Helps digest fats and oils for the best absorption of fat-soluble
vitamins (A, D, E and K) as well as easing stress on the liver.
Cellulase (Aspergillus niger) 11.2 mg
Breaks down the fibrous walls of plant cells, enabling greater
access to their nutrients.
Lactase (Aspergillus oryzae) 6.2 mg
Specifically for the digestion of lactose (milk sugar), found in
dairy products.
Diastase (Hordeum vulgare) 5.6 mg
Helps break down carbohydrates, especially from grains.
Invertase (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) 11 mg
Specifically targets refined sugars, catalyzing them into usable
energy.
Papain (Carica papaya) 2.5 mg
A proteolytic enzyme from papaya fruit that helps to break
down proteins.
Bear garlic (Allium ursinum, leaf) 50 mg
Bear garlic aids in digestion and provides antioxidant activity to
help repair metabolic damage.
Papaya fruit (Carica papaya) 40 mg
Papaya fruit contains papain, an enzyme that aids in protein
digestion and provides soothing effect on the stomach.
Recommended use: AIM PrepZymes ® are recommended as a
digestive aid. They are best taken immediately before or during
meals so they can begin to break down the food before the
pancreas becomes overworked by having to secrete more enzymes
than necessary. You may take AIM PrepZymes ® with other AIM
products; however, AIM PrepZymes ® will break down the healthy
probiotic bacteria in AIM FloraFood ® , so it is recommended to
take these two products separately with different meals.
Recommended dose: Adult: 3 capsules daily with meals. For
prolonged use, consult a health care practitioner.
Risk information: May irritate existing ulcer. Consult a health
care practitioner prior to use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding;
have diabetes; have gastro-intestinal lesions/ulcers; are taking
anticoagulant agents, anti-inflammatory agents or other enzyme
products; are having surgery; or have an allergy to latex or fruits.
Headaches, heartburn, bloating, and hypersensitivity (e.g. allergy)
have been known to occur; in which case, discontinue use.
