HONORED FOR GOOD ATTENDANCE<br />
Second, Third and Fourth Grade students from Reeds Spring Elementary<br />
School were recently honored for outstanding attendance<br />
during the 2007-08 school year. Students with perfect attendance<br />
were awarded an attendance certificate along with a $10 Walmart<br />
Gift certificate and were entered into a drawing to win one of three<br />

Primary School Field Day<br />
Reeds Spring Fourth Grade students Tyler Morgan and Zane<br />
Ross are shown participating in the sport of “belly bumping” during<br />
Field Day activities. Students rotate among activities under the<br />
supervision of teaching staff and parent volunteers.<br />
Reeds Spring Primary, Elementary and Intermediate School Students<br />
recently held their annual Field Day at the end of the school<br />
year. Students participate in a variety of contests designed to utilize<br />
the various skills they have learned in physical education throughout<br />
the year. Primary school students are shown at the Parachute station.<br />
The object of the game is to raise the parachute high enough<br />
to catch the air under it, but not high enough to knock the balls<br />
off. This particular station emphasizes the use of arm strength and<br />
dexterity.<br />

and Jacob Tuia just completed<br />
their Sophomore year of High<br />
School and were notified this<br />
Spring of their acceptance into<br />
this elite program.<br />
The Missouri Academy is an<br />
early-entrance-to-college, twoyear<br />
residential program, located<br />
on the Northwest Missouri State<br />
campus. It is designated for talented<br />
high school students with<br />
demonstrated high performance<br />
and interest in science, mathematics<br />
and computing. Students<br />
accepted into the program attend<br />
the program for two years which<br />
replaces the traditional junior<br />
and senior years of high school.<br />
While at the Missouri Academy,<br />
students are enrolled in a<br />
curriculum consisting of college<br />
coursework taught by profes-<br />
sors at Northwest Missouri State<br />
University. Missouri Academy<br />
students attend classes together<br />
with traditional university students<br />
and professors have the<br />
same expectations of them as<br />
they do for traditional students.<br />
Individuals who complete the<br />
two-year program earn an Associate<br />
of Science degree as well<br />
as a high school diploma. The<br />
program provides an opportunity<br />
for exceptional students to live,<br />
socialize and study in a living/<br />
learning community of peers.<br />
