3.1.1.5 PHARMACOPOEIA COMMITTEES
Four different Pharmacopoeia
Committees, one each for Ayurveda,
Siddha, Unani, and Homoeopathy,
are in place to oversee and steer the
preparation of pharmacopoeias and
formularies of drugs. These
committees have been brought
under the ambit of Pharmacopoeia
Commission, which will function as
an autonomous body.

A Drug Control Cell (AYUSH) is
working in the Ministry to deal
with the matters pertaining to
D r u g Q u a l i t y C o n t r o l a n d
regulation of Ayurveda, Siddha
Unani and Homoeopathic drugs
under the provision of Drugs and
Cosmetics Act, 1940 and Rules
there under.
Information, Education and
Communication (IEC) Cell with a
Facilitation Centre is functioning
in the Ministry.
The Ministry has an Education
Policy Section to deal with the
matters related to grant of Central
Government permission for
o p e n i n g o f n e w c o l l e g e s ,
increasing admission capacity and
starting new or higher courses of
study in Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani
Tibb and Homoeopathy.
