THEY SAID IT
"Baseball is the same in virtually every ballpark in America: 9 innings
to a game, 90 feet between the bases, 3 strikes and you're out. But the
experience of watching a game can change dramatically — especially when your
ballpark is next to a perpetual carnival. Along Surf Avenue in Coney Island is
the Brooklyn Cyclones, a minor league baseball team playing here out of MCU
Park since 2001. The team is affiliated with the MLB's New York Mets, but the
game is unlike anything you'd see at Citi Field or anywhere else in the majors...
It's a 3 hour outdoor party."
-- Josh Sanburn, TIME Magazine
30

Non-Traditional events
The Cyclones can work with you to reach
a specific target through non-traditional
marketing.
In 2015, the Cyclones won MiLB's Promo
of the Year for "Ambush Baseball." We
surprised two little league teams at their
field, and brought them to MCU Park where
we had secretly planned for them to play
their game. The planning and execution of
the event was recorded and released on line
as part of a viral campaing that received
tens of thousands of views.
The event allowed our corporate partner
to reach their specific target market while
also creating memories that will last a life
time.
31

Did You Know?
In 2006, the Brooklyn Cyclones played the longest game in the 100 year history
of the New York-Penn League. The Cyclones and Oneonta Tigers remain tied
1-1 until the top of the 26th when Mark Wright, an outfielder by trade, allowed
five runs. The game lasted six hours and 40 minutes, and Cyclones manager
George Greer was ejected from the game in the first inning.
