David Feher - co-chair <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Sports Practice at<br />
W<strong>in</strong>ston & Strawn LLP - is one <strong>of</strong> USA’s lead<strong>in</strong>g<br />
<strong>sport</strong>s <strong>law</strong>yers with extensive experience <strong>in</strong><br />
complex litigations, negotiations <strong>and</strong><br />
arbitrations <strong>in</strong>volv<strong>in</strong>g contract, <strong>in</strong>tellectual<br />
property, antitrust <strong>and</strong> <strong>in</strong>ternational issues.<br />
David has been outside counsel for <strong>the</strong> NFL<br />
Players Association <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> NBA Players<br />
Association <strong>and</strong> is one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir prime negotiators<br />
<strong>of</strong> collective barga<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g agreements <strong>and</strong><br />
antitrust settlements.<br />
David represented clients <strong>in</strong> prom<strong>in</strong>ent <strong>sport</strong>s<br />
<strong>law</strong>suits <strong>and</strong> arbitrations, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong><br />
Freeman McNeil <strong>and</strong> Reggie White antitrust<br />
cases that led to player free agency <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> NFL,<br />
<strong>the</strong> Patrick Ew<strong>in</strong>g class action <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> NBA, <strong>the</strong><br />
currently pend<strong>in</strong>g Jenk<strong>in</strong>s v. NCAA antitrust<br />
action challeng<strong>in</strong>g restrictions on competition<br />
for player services <strong>in</strong> basketball <strong>and</strong> American<br />
football, Oscar Pistorius’ successful effort to<br />
overturn his ban aga<strong>in</strong>st compet<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> IAAF<br />
<strong>and</strong> Olympic track events <strong>and</strong> Caster Semenya’s<br />
successful eligibility dispute with <strong>the</strong><br />
IAAF.<br />
Michael Gerl<strong>in</strong>ger is Director <strong>of</strong> <strong>Legal</strong> Affairs at<br />
FC Bayern Munich. He studied <strong>sport</strong>s <strong>law</strong> at <strong>the</strong><br />
Mannheim University <strong>and</strong> followed <strong>the</strong> FIFA<br />
Masters study.<br />
In 2005, Michael started work<strong>in</strong>g at FC Bayern,<br />
after hav<strong>in</strong>g worked at <strong>the</strong> Taylor Wess<strong>in</strong>g <strong>law</strong><br />
firm.<br />
Michael is an author <strong>of</strong> several publications<br />
regard<strong>in</strong>g <strong>sport</strong>s <strong>law</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>sport</strong>s management.<br />
He is an assessor for <strong>the</strong> German football<br />
federation (DFB) <strong>and</strong> also an arbitrator for<br />
(Court <strong>of</strong> Arbitration for Sport) CAS <strong>and</strong> FIBA<br />
(<strong>the</strong> world basketball association).<br />
