News from the
Family Law
Sub-Committee
We had our recent meeting on the 14th
October 2015, and we had a lot of the
usual standing items including a number
of dates from the various committees to
take place at Court, there was
information about protocols and pilots
that had been set up in the Merseyside
area.
This includes a new pilot that is going to
be implemented based upon the clock
scheme which is to deal with litigants in
person at conciliation hearings and
involving JMU students on a supervised
basis. There was an update from Elaine
Richardson who is a member of the
National Law Society Family Committee
as to what the Law Society is looking at
nationally in relation to family matters.
The Committee had a number of key
issues that they would like to be raised
at the MPs meeting that is coming up at
Liverpool Law Society including Legal
Aid, Access to Justice, the increasing
number of LIPS in family proceedings
and more recently the Court closures.
The Committee is well attended on a bimonthly
basis and we would still seek
new members from practices with large
family departments within the city which
are still not represented on the Family
Law Sub-Committee.
