TCP/IP based remote monitoring solution for telecommunication infrastructure
Didactum`s Monitoring System 500-DC (item No. 14004) is specifically designed for the remote
monitoring of Energy and Telecommunication infrastructure.
Designed as a classical IP alarm server, moving parts such as air vents or disks are not present
in Didactum`s remote monitoring device.
This high-end measuring and monitoring system is equipped with an internal 24 - 48V DC power
supply. Didactum`s monitoring system 500-DC works stand-alone. The installation of software
is not required. Thanks to it`s full SNMPv1, SNMPv2 and SNMPv3 ´support, this remote monitoring
device can be easliy integrated in SNMP tools and Network Management Systems such
as Nagios or OpenNMS and many more. Required SNMP MIB files are included.
24/7 monitoring of your critical Telecommunications infrastructure
The availability of unmanned telecommunications and energy supply infrastructure must
be ensured around the clock. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year.
Critical events and impending state changes must be reliably detected and reported in these
remote, often unmanned infrastructures. At the same time, the measured sensor data and
the syslog have to be immediately available for revision purposes or security audits.
Flexible connection of analog and CAN bus sensors
The TCP / IP-based Didactum Monitoring System 500 DC offers you the possibility to connect
analog and CAN bus sensors. Depending on your individual requirements, you can equip your
Didactum Monitoring System 500 DC with different SNMP enabled sensors.
Sensors such as temperature, humidiry, flooding, fire, vibration, power failure, security and airflow
etc. are availale. Didactum offers combined sensors also. The installation of the CAN- and
analog sensors is simple. For this purpose, just connect the sensor with the corresponding sensor
port of the Didactum IT Monitoring Appliance. With it`s autoidentification support, the sensor
is appears automatically in multilingual Web GUI.
TCP/IP based Dry Contact Monitoring
If you want to monitor dry contacts of your mission critical equipment over TCP/IP network,
such as UPS- or HVAC-systems and many more, just order for your Didactum remote monitoring
unit the optional Dry Contact Board (item No. 14027). Status message and failure of equipment
and machines can be detected in real time and forwarded to the responsible technicians.
External CAN bus units offer a flexible expansion of your infrastructure monitoring solution.
Integrated relays
Your IP based Didactum Monitoring System 500-DC has 4 integrated relays. These relays can be
switched manually, via SNMP command or in interaction with the connected sensors. This gives
you new possibilities.
Video Monitoring
If necessary, you can connect USB video cameras to your IP-based Didactum Monitoring System.
Intensify your non-stop Remote Infrastructure Monitoring with additional video surveillance.
trouble-free operation of the measurement sensors in a server
room and in technology environment, the Didactum engineers
decided consciously to use only wired sensors.
This decision was based on testing of EMI and other factors
that wireless sensors are effected by and could be unreliable.
Fig.: Each Didactum monitoring system is equipped with
two CAN bus ports. Up to 8 CAN sensors or CAN units can be
connected with a total length of 300 meters to each port.
Early warning of threats
In it`s multilingual web interface, you can set for the connected Didactum sensors individual
limits and warning thresholds. The Didactum monitoring appliance provides notification types
such as e-mail, SMS (GSM modem required) and SNMP traps to automation and Network Monitoring
Software (NMS). The measured data of sensors is stored in the data logger of this network
based measure measurement system and can bedirectly displayed graphically in it`s
Web-GUI. Create with just a few mouse clicks a report of the temperature profile in your telecommunication
room or data center. The sensor values can be exported as XML or CSV file directly
from this network based measurement device. All events are stored in the syslog and can
be easily exported.
SMS notification / SMS commands
On request, your Didactum remote monitoring unit can be equipped also with an internal Quad-
Band GSM modem (item No. 14025).
In case of critical condition, the alert can be directly sent to your mobile phone / smartphone.
The SMS message can be sent directly to the technicians, so that even more rapid action is
possible. In case of (total) loss of network communication, you can also directly send SMS
commands to your Didactum monitoring system, available via GSM.
Each successful SMS command is acknowledged by the Didactum monitoring appliance.
