Administratively, the country is divided into 12 provinces/Finnish:<br />

For the needs o f national and regional planning, the country is<br />

divided into 20 economically and geographically convenient regional<br />

planning areas. Data on these areas are presented in table<br />

For general and presidential elections, the country is divided into<br />

15 electoral areas, each province consisting o f one or two such<br />

areas. Data on electoral areas are given in tables 442-446.<br />

Other regional subdivisions, which often do not coincide with the<br />

administrative ones, are used in tables 86,99,101, 102, 108,109,<br />

113,118 and 119.
