Win one of the
specialties of Aso

Our Gift Campaign
is on now!

Designated as a Global Geopark in September 2014, Aso Global Geopark is a nature-rich land
with the world’s largest caldera formed by four super-eruptions which occurred between about
270,000 to 90,000 years ago.
Among Aso’s ‘Five Peaks’, Nakadake is continuously emitting smoke. The people of Aso
have handed down their unique culture over the generations while receiving the bounty made
possible by the volcano.
One may experience the heartbeat of the land through its beautiful nature and unique culture.

What is a Geopark?
A Geopark is a “park” where many natural heritage sites are
located - such as strata, topography, and volcanoes. Its
purpose is to promote and educate people about an area’s
geological origins, rivers, ecology, and culture.
Through the Global Geopark Network established in 2004,
geoparks have been promoted all over the world.

Among the products developed which are representative of the relation
between Aso volcano and people’ s way of life, especially outstanding
products will be certified with the “Aso Geopark Brand Products”.
The blessings of the land of Aso may understood through these products.
