Connect the Dots event album

On Tuesday 22 October 2015 we held a pop-up event at our new community space in Dewsbury town centre. Connect The Dots brought people together to get a sneak peek of the venue in the raw and to explore ideas, share stories and start conversations. We welcomed 145 people to the festival – including partner organisations, tenants, service users, shareholders, Board members and one local MP. Here are the photos of the event.

A FESTIVAL OF IDEAS,
STORIES & CONVERSATIONS
TUESDAY 22 SEPTEMBER
3PM - 6:30PM

On Tuesday 22 October 2015 we held a
pop-up event at our new community space in
Dewsbury town centre.

Connect The Dots brought people
together to get a sneak peek of the
venue in the raw and to explore ideas,
share stories and start conversations.

We were delighted to welcome
145 people to the festival – including
partner organisations, tenants, service
users, shareholders, Board members and
one local MP.

Connect staff and volunteers were
ambassadors for the event – welcoming
people and being on hand to help.

People arrived, picked up their festival
packs and made their mark on the wall.

We asked people to stick up a brick
and tell us what barriers they think exist
in the community.

i’m not
really
here...
we’re knocking this wall down
and opening up this space.
what barriers do you think need
removing in our communities?

In our community space people shared
their ideas about what they want to see
happening there.

It was all about getting together with
local doers and thinkers and bringing
people together.

People shared stories and we heard
from people and organisations making a
difference right now.

CONNECT THE

In our conversation space people had fireside
chats with our community reporters and
added their words to the festival bunting.

People looked at our architect’s plans for
the building and gave us feedback to help
shape the space.

In our café space festival goers experienced
coffee creativity from the independent Bean
Brothers, enjoyed delicious food by The Real
Junk Food Project and helped us write the
menu for events in our future happy café.

What every festival needs… between 5.30pm
part of Connect’s AGM session.

Our Secret Cinema featured community films from
Outside Connect tenant Elliot Wigsell, from Urban
Art Leeds, brought to life the ideas of some of our
younger tenants. Throughout the afternoon the
bigger picture emerged.

A big thank you to
everyone who was part
of the Connect the Dots
