Where is
Moldova?
Officially called ‘Republic of Moldova’ is a landlocked country in
Eastern Europe, bordered by Romania to the west and
Ukraine to the north, east, and south. The capital city is Chișinău.

We stayed at ‘Ialoveni’
(Romanian pronunciation:
jaloˈven)
a town about 6 miles outside
Chișinău.

We were warmly welcomed by
Nicu and Lili Bocaneala
We have nothing but thanks
and admiration for their
gracious hospitality.

Modova currency:
Moldovan Leu (MDL) – plural Lei.
All the notes feature a portrait of
Stefan cel Mare (Stephen the Great)
prince of Moldavia from 1457 until his
death in 1504. Stephen the Great
defended Moldavia from the Ottomans.
At the time of our visit
1.00 GBP = 30.00 MDL

The main objectives for the
Ladies Conferences were to
encourage and support the
ladies there who often have
such a hard time in Moldova
and to encourage them further
or for the first time with the
love of God through Jesus.
The main theme was the Life
Lessons from Julie’s book,
‘With Candles on My Shoes’.

Internally it was still in the process
of refurbishment.

HARVEST YOUTH SKIT – SHARING

Julie preached on ‘Every person is precious to God’ at the Harvest Service.
Using a ‘dalit cup’ as an illustration she explained that Dalits, also known as
untouchables, were members of the lowest social status group in India’s caste
system. For centuries they had been denied their basic human rights and
human dignity as they were considered worthless. With God, every person is
precious to Him, He knows us and loves each one of us.

Protesters have put up tents in front of parliamentary buildings demanding a
probe into the disappearance of up to $1.5 billion from three Moldovan banks
last year.

The Milestii Mici Winery one of the
flagship tourism sites of the
country. It has two million bottles
of its wine stored underground. It is
the largest collection of wine in the
world
It’s so popular that we needed to
book in advance for a tour and we
had no time left to return on
another day.
