Anna Rossinelli blicken
im Interview auf ihren
drei monatigen US-Trip
zurück.
Und, habt ihr nun Tango tanzen gelernt?
Anna: Nein. (lacht) Aber unser Rucksack ist voll
mit Musik und Filmmaterial, guten Geschichten,
etlichen Fotos und Videoclips. Der Albumname
«Takes Two to Tango» ist vielmehr die perfekte Umschreibung
für unser Projekt: Es braucht nicht nur
zwei, um Tango zu tanzen – es braucht auch zwei,
um Musik zu machen. Wir sind durch die USA getourt,
um uns mit anderen Musikern auszutauschen
und gemeinsam Musik zu machen.
Amerikanische Freiheit – oder was erwartet uns
auf dem neuen Album?
A.: Es ist auf jeden Fall abwechslungsreich: Die
Freiheit und die Weite Amerikas sind in unserer
Musik spürbar. Nicht fehlen durften auch klassische
Jam Songs, die dir das Gefühl geben, als sässest
du mit einem Bier in irgendeiner heruntergekommenen
Bar in New Orleans.
Georg: Die Zusammenarbeit mit den verschiedenen
Musikern war enorm bereichernd.
Manuel: Da gab es zum Beispiel diesen coolen Typen
in LA, der bei einem Brunnen sass und Mundharmonika
spielte. Wir haben ihn spontan angequatscht,
ob er Lust habe, was mit uns aufzunehmen.
Und dieser Song ist nun tatsächlich auf dem
neuen Album!
In der Schweiz ist es wahrscheinlich auch nicht
so einfach, die Leute zum Tanzen aufzufordern,
wie beispielsweise in New York?
A.: Der Videodreh in New York war extrem cool! Wir
sind auf die Strassen der Lower East Side gegangen
und haben einfach mal begonnen, die Leute anzutanzen.

in the following interview,
Anna Rossinelli look back
on their three-month trip
through the USA.
So, did you learn to dance the tango?
Anna: No. (laughs) But our rucksacks are packed
with music and film material, great stories, masses
of photos and video clips. The album name “Takes
Two to Tango” is more of a description that perfectly
fits our project: it doesn’t just take two to dance the
tango – it also takes two to make music. We toured the
USA in order to swap ideas with other musicians and
to make music with them.
American freedom – or what can we expect
from the new album?
A.: One thing is certain: it’s pretty varied. You can
feel the freedom and vastness of America in our
music. And we just had to include classic jam songs
that make you think you’re sitting over a beer in
some run-down bar in New Orleans.
Georg: Working together with different musicians
was enormously rewarding.
Manuel: Just one example: there was this cool guy in
LA sitting next to a fountain and playing the harmonica.
We went straight up to him and asked him if
he wanted to record something with us. And the
song is now featured on the album!
In Switzerland, it’s probably not as easy to get
people to dance as it is, for instance, in New York?
A.: Shooting the video clip in New York was really
cool! We went out on to the streets of the Lower East
Side and simply started trying to get the people there
to dance with us.
G.: Okay, it might seem a bit pushy dancing up to
people and dragging them off in front of the camera,
but everyone went along with it straight away – it was
Swiss style
87
