‘Se Je Puis’
A FA MILY TRA DIT ION CONT INUED
As the great-great-grandson of Henry H. Rogers, one of the co-founders of Standard Oil, Henry
comes from a long line of car enthusiasts.
His great uncle Huttleston Broughton, 1st Lord Fairhaven, a life-long devotee of Rolls-Royce
commissioned, in 1937, a pair of Phantom III Sedanca de Ville by the prestigious Coachbuilder
Barker, one of which would later feature in the film ‘Goldfinger’. At the same time his cousin Millicent
Rogers, one of the great style icons of the 20th Century, could be found touring Europe in her Delage
D8-120 Aerosport Coupé, her Mercedes-Benz 500K Convertible or her Cord 812 Supercharged.
Henry’s father continued the tradition, indulging his passion for Alvis, Jensen and Bentley motor
vehicles and Henry contines to do so. Having been exposed from a young age, a memorable
experience at age 10 was being taken on a high speed drive by his Godfather in a 1986 Aston Martin
Vantage Volante ‘Prince of Wales’ specification and once off the public roads ‘piloting’ the car back
to the family garages, Henry’s very first driving experience.
Throughout his youth Henry spent his free time learning about cars, whilst seizing every
opportunity to drive and be driven in as many interesting motor cars as possible. Henry himself has
owned a number of Aston Martin, Bentley and Porsche. It therefore no surprise that there was only one
ambition – to become a professional car dealer.
In 2013, Henry founded Henry R Broughton Automotive, making use of his long standing and world
wide connections, relations and friends. With an office in Mayfair, London and show and storage
facilities outside London, Henry buys, sells and brokers collector's cars and looks after all of his
clients’ needs regarding advice, maintenance, logistics and storage.
Established connections with some of the leading specialists in the collector’s car field will enable
Henry to make sure his clients have access to the finest automobiles in the world. His principles are
absolute honesty, integrity and discretion.
T H E JAGUA R XK SERIES
The XK120 was launched in 1948 as an open top two seater capable of 120mph, the fastest
production road car at the time. The first production Roadster was delivered to Clark Gable in 1949.
On 30 May 1949 an XK120 Roadster achieved 135mph on the Ostend-Jabbecke motorway and
many were successful in racing and rallying. Fixed head coupés (FHC) and drophead coupés (DHC)
followed the Roadster in 1951 and 1953 respectively.
The XK140 was the successor and was manufactured between 1954 and 1957 and was also available
as a Roadster, FHC and DHC and included upgrades such as more interior space, improved brakes
and suspension and rack and pinion steering.
The XK150 was produced from 1957 to 1961, and although it resembled its predecessors it was
radically revised including a one piece windscreen, a longer bonnet and and a wingline that no longer
dropped so steeply at the doors.
The E-Type caused a sensation at its launch at the Geneva Motor Show in 1961 and was produced
in three Series until 1975. It was described by Enzo Ferrari as ‘the most beautiful car ever made’. The
original 6-cylinder engine was enlarged from 3.8 to 4.2 litres and then replaced in the Series III by a
5.3 V12. It was originally available as both a DHC and a FHC and later as a 2+2 coupé. Jaguar sold
over 70,000 E-Type's during its twelve year production run, two thirds of which found homes in the
United States.
Prices for these sensational collector’s automobiles currently range from £50,000 to £250,000.
Through his relationship with Classic Motor Cars (CMC) based in Shropshire, the world’s
a continent to the soundtrack of yesteryear or to buy a beautiful work of four-wheeled art Henry R
