Thank You!
It has been one year since we said ‘I Do’! This year has flown by but it seems like just yesterday
we were preparing for our big day. Our first year has been full of blessings that included a new
job, a trip to Jamaica, and building a home together. We profoundly thank all the individuals who
stepped in and took care of details so we could enjoy our wedding. It is an honor to share with
you the special moments that were captured by our photographers and loved ones. We will always
treasure the sweet moments from our wedding day.

I would like to sincerely thank my father for being incredibly supportive during the wedding process.
He didn’t want to be involved in the decision-making; he just wanted Andrew and me to be
happy. I appreciate that God blessed me with such loving, supportive parents. Daddy: Thank you
for footing the bills without complaint; for that we are incredibly grateful. I love you.
I would also like to thank my Godmother, Julia Valdez. I was blessed that my parents chose her
and my uncle Kenny as my Godparents. Aunt Julia: My mom loved you and ensured that I had
a solid relationship with you. Thank you so much for all the advice, guidance, and much needed
hugs - I love you.

I always knew I’d wear the vintage costume jewelry my
Grandma Julia gave me when I was a young child.
I once read that the most important relationship you have is
the one you have with your mother; and I believe it to be completely
true. Andrew planned to propose at the end of 2012, but
plans changed when I lost my mother in August of that year.
My mother and I had a very special bond so it was remarkably
difficult not having her present on wedding day and throughout
the planning process. But Andrew and I will always take solace
in knowing that he had the opportunity to ask my mother for
her blessing moments before she passed away.
Throughout our wedding, details were incorporated to
commemorate my mother’s memory. I knew my mama
couldn’t physically be with us, but having these small details
made me feel as though she was enjoying the day with us. I
wanted my mama to walk down the aisle with me so my bridal
bouquet was comprised of her favorite flowers and a photo
charm was attached to it.
My wedding bands are incredibly special not only because
they signify the commitment between me and Andrew, but because
some of my mother’s diamonds and gold jewelry
were used to create them. From choosing the
Caney House to using La Bahia as the bridal
backdrop to presenting yellow roses during
our Nuptial Mass to lighting a candle at the
reception to using her handwriting in our
engagement photos my mother was honored,
and for me she was present.
