Heavy Metals at Your Dinner Plate !!...

Lead

body, especially in bones, brain, heart, kidneys, liver, nervous system and pancreas
so even small amonts can pose a healt hazard over time. Lead is a claimed neurotoxin
(kills brain cells) and excessive blood lead levels in children have been linked
to learned disabilities, attention defict disorder (ADD), hyperactivity syndromes and
reduced intelligence and school achievment scores.
Cadmium
According to US Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry, eating food or
water with high levels of cadmium, severely irriates to stomach and leads to vomiting
and diarrhea. Long-term exposure of cadmium in the food and water can lead to
kidney disease, lng damage and fragile bones. Cadmium is ten times more toxic then
lead and its effects are ten times more damaging. The half life of cadmium in the body
is between 10-25 years. Chronic issues such as asthma, bronchitis and testicular cancer
can develop and there is a strong association with cadmium toxicity and kidney
disease.
How Lead Cadmium Get Out of Your Dishes and Get Into Your Body
1. Eating foods with an acid base such as: tomato sauce, pickle juice, orange juice,
apples, soy sauce and salad dressing. Acidic foods cause lead and cadmium to leach
from the plates and into your food.
2. Microwaving your food in ceramicware that contains lead. Unsafe lead concentrations
are found in some chinaware after microwave use and this could result in the
ingestion of large amounts of lead.
3. Automatic dishwashers can damage glazed surface of your chinaware, causing
lead to be leached the next time you see your plates. The heat and intensity of the
water hitting the plates can cause the glaze to deteriorate off of chinaware. This would
expose the decals. Paint and the clay. In addition, the lead and cadmium can contminate
other chinware that was placed in the diswasher.
