A three-day international information technology conference entitled as “Digital Youth Summit 2015”
was held from May 07-09, 2015 at Shiraz Arena, Deans Trade Centre, Peshawar. Besides students of IT,
experts and delegates from Pakistan and abroad attended the conference. A group of students under
the supervision of Ms. Saima Bano, Lecturer, Department of Management Science and Mr. Zafar Iqbal,
Lecturer, Department of Computer Science, CUSIT attended the event with great interest. A group of
female students, Maha, Shanza, Teham, Shizra and Sidrah from CUSIT also assisted the organizing
committee of the conference. The event provided a plat-form to the young generation to get together
and showcase their ideas.
“World Book Day” was observed at CUSIT on April 23, 2015.
Engr Prof. Dr. Attaullah Shah, Vice Chancellor, CUSIT inaugurated the book
stalls while Mr. Saqib Chohan, Team Leader, CU-CSR and his team members
were also present on the occasion. The book sellers and publishers displayed
books of various discipline with the support of library staff of CUSIT.

The Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) organized a job fair on June 03, 2015 which was
attended by dozens of construction related multinational and international companies.

Engr. Prof. Dr. Attaullah Shah, Vice Chancellor, Engr. Dr. Nasimullah, Engr. Dr. Shahab

participated in the job fair. Engr. Habil Ahmed with the support of Mr. Asim Raza,
Admission Officer and graduates of CUSIT also represented the stall of the University at
the job fair which was decorated with the university newsletters, brochures, banners etc.

Participation in SOFTEC - 2015
SOFTEC, an annual event, was organized on March 28 & 29, 2015 at FAST-NU, Lahore Campus with
primary aim of promoting the advancement of information technology. Like other universities,
students from CUSIT also participated in the event. They were supervised by Mr. Zafar Iqbal and Mr.
Muhammad Ahsan, faculty members, Department of Computer Science, CUSIT.
Students, Muhammad Shayan, Arsalan Hussain, Muhammad Haris, Aamir Anwar, Sanaullah, Haroon
Basheer, Qayamuddin, Junaid Ahmad and Muhammad Musa efficiently exercised their skills in the
competition of Graphic Designing, Programming, Web Development and Software.

2015 Program
A delegation of students from different public and private universities of KP visited Taxila and Azad
Kashmir from March 28 to April 02, 2015. Rafia Butt, Graduate of CUSIT also joined the delegation and
visited the places and viewed many historical, cultural & heritage sites and shared valueable experiences
with fellow students. Rafia Butt found the trip not only as recreational activity but it also nurtured creative
abilities of students in becoming responsible citizens of the country.
The trip was titled as “Inter Provincial Youth Exchange Program” initiated by Youth Affairs Department,
KP, collaborated by their implementing partner - Liaison Corporation.

Education Expo-2015” on May 19, 2015 in
Pearl Continental Hotel, Peshawar. The mega event aimed to provide multiple forms for students by
bringing together big national and international educational institutions at one plat form. A group of
staff and students from City University also participated in the expo and interacted with other institutions
and visitors. The group included Mr. Saqib Chohan , Team Leader, City University Consultancy Services
and Research (CU-CSR), Mr. Asim Raza, Mr. Nauman Habib and other staff members of CUSIT. The event
acted as a bridge between the educational providers and educational seekers.

and Medium Enterprises Development (SMEDA),
Peshawar 2.0, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto
University, Women Chamber of Commerce &
Industry, Peshawar were invited who shared their valuable ideas and
experiences. Member students of WEW, Shanza, Maha, Shizra, Tiham, Araik and
Sidra put great efforts to make the session successful. They shared different

City University Consultancy Services and Research, Islamabad organized different training sessions at
CUSIT for the staff of Peshawar Model Educational Institutes. Mr. Saqib Chohan, Team Leader / Project
Director CU-CSR and his team took necessary steps for arranging productive courses for the staff's
capacity building.
Leadership & Management (June 16-17, 2015)
The ability to lead, traits and behaviors associated with the leadership were the main contents of this
course. It helped the participants to learn how to stand up to stress and how to see it as an opportunity for
personal growth and development.

SOCIAL MEDIA
A workshop on “Social Media” was held at CUSIT in collaboration with the organization, Peshawar 2.0
on February 11, 2015. Ms. Saima Bano, Lecturer, Department of Management Sciences, CUSIT was the
focal person of the workshop while Ms. Nighat Dad, Executive Director, Digital Rights Forum, Pakistan,
Mr. Fawad Bajwa, Director, Policy and Technology Initiatives, Pakistan and Mr. Uzair, Co-founder,
Peshawar 2.0 were the guest speakers of the workshop. The seminar highlighted the important issues
related to the rapidly changing and growing tools of social media.
OUTCOME BASED EDUCATION
A workshop on “Outcome Based Education” was arranged at CUSIT on March 06, 2015. Faculty
members from the Department of Electrical and Civil Engineering, CUSIT attended the workshop. Engr.
Prof. Dr. Attaullah Shah, Vice Chancellor, CUSIT was the resource person of the workshop which aimed
to know the contents and purpose of outcome-based education.
EMERGING TRENDS IN CONSTRUCTION PROJECT PROCUREMENT
A workshop on “Emerging Trends in Construction Project
Procurement” was organized by Department of Engineering, CUSIT
on June 11, 2015. Engr. Prof. Dr. Attaullah Shah, Vice Chancellor,
CUSIT was the resource person of the workshop. The basic
understanding of the project procurement generic process was
highlighted in the workshop. It familiarized the participants with the
project management knowledge areas.
ENHANCING EMPLOYEES THOUGHT AROUND ACHIEVING PEAK
A Training session was held on June 13, 2015. “Enhancing Employees
Thought around Achieving Peak performance for the organization”
was the theme of the workshop. Mr. Haider Ali, CEO ACI was the
resource person of the session. Admin/Faculty members of CUSIT
participated in the session. Mr. Haider Ali focused on the importance
of employees’ involvement in all levels of work and discussed how
could an organization benefit from it.

about International School Award (ISA) by British Council highlighted the importance of global
citizenship and embedding internationalism in curriculum to develop the knowledge, skills and values to
live and work in a globalized economy, and contribute responsibly both locally and globally.

Visit to Allama Iqbal Open University and
National Institute of Psychology, Islamabad
The Department of Education, CUSIT arranged a study tour for the students of Ph.D / M. Phil / M. Ed and B.
Ed of the University. Dr. Muhammad Younas, Head, the Department of Education, CUSIT led the team of
students to the Allama Iqbal Open University, Islamabbad and National Institute of Psychology, Quaid-e-
Azam University, Islamabad on June 04, 2015. CUSIT's students visited various academic departments and
research sections of both institutions where administrative staff facilitated them.
Visit to Khyber Match Factory (Pvt.) Ltd.
The Department of Management Sciences, CUSIT arranged a study
tour to Khyber Match Factory (Pvt.) Ltd, Peshawar for the students of
BBA (Final Semester) under the supervision of Mr. Nouman Habib, Mr.
Aamir Nadeem, and Ms. Hafza Sadia, faculty members of the
Department of Management Sciences, CUSIT on June 06, 2015. The
group of students and faculty members were very warmly received by
the staff of the Factory and were guided to the different manufacturing
units of the factory. The primary objective of the study tour was to
strengthen the university industry linkage.

ASIAN SOCIETY OF MANAGEMENT & MARKETING RESEARCH (ASMMR)
Prof. Dr. Anwar Fazil Chishti, Director, ORIC and Mr. Nauman Habib, Lecturer, Department of
Management Sciences, CUSIT attended “st National Research Conference” organized by Asian Society of
Management and Marketing Research (ASMMR) on March 14 and 15, 2015 in Islamabad. The conference
provided participants the chance to uncover the current approaches in Management, Marketing
Accounting and Finance.
INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF STATISTICAL SCIENCES
A Three-day “International Conference of Statistical Sciences” jointly organized by Islamic Countries
Society of Statistical Sciences (ISOSS) and Islamia College, Peshawar held from March 16-18, 2015 at
Islamia College, Peshawar. Ms. Hafsa Sadia, Mr. Saqib Shahzad, Mr. Muhammad Kamran and Mr.
Zunnorrain Khan, faculty members of the Department of Management Sciences, CUSIT attended the
conference which was devoted to all aspects of statistical technology and quality management, public
health, management sciences and law, environmental and demographic sciences.
POLICIES FOR ENCOURAGING PROBLEM SOLVING RESEARCH IN UNIVERSITIES
Pakistan Council for Science & Technology in collaboration with the Institute of Research Promotion, and
Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Lahore organized a conference on March 05, 2015 “Policies for
Encouraging Problem Solving Research in universities” was the subject of the conference. Engr. Dr.
Nasimullah, Head, the Department of Electrical Engineering, CUSIT also attended the conference where
various aspects for Encouraging Problem Solving research in higher education institution were
highlighted.

A one day workshop on “Occupational Health and Safety Management for Engineers” was organized
at CUSIT in collaboration with Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) on January 22, 2015. All faculty
members of the Engineering department, CUSIT participated in the workshop. Resource person of the
workshop was Engr. Tariq ur Rehman.

17th All Pakistan Inter-University Declamation Contest for the award of “Allama Iqbal Shield” held on
March 18, 2015 at HEC, Peshawar office. This was regional level round in which Shanza Nasir, (BBA),
