TEACHING EXPERIENCE:<br />

Taught a variety <strong>of</strong> undergraduate and graduate courses in Information Science, Intelligent Systems, and related<br />

disciplines at the University <strong>of</strong> Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon University, and University <strong>of</strong> Alaska, Anchorage.<br />

The course Decision Analysis and Decision Support Systems is a University <strong>of</strong> Pittsburgh Honors College course.<br />

Special teaching focus on doctoral training and training for doing science. Member <strong>of</strong> the advisory board <strong>of</strong><br />

the Program in Survival Skills and Ethics, University <strong>of</strong> Pittsburgh, that focuses on emerging scientists, such<br />

as doctoral students and junior faculty. Member <strong>of</strong> the university-wide Advisory Committee for Faculty and<br />

Teaching Assistant/Teaching Fellow Development and Provosts Advisory Council on Instructional Excellence.<br />

Taught special sessions for junior faculty and teaching assistants. Awarded the university-wide 1997 Outstanding<br />

Mentor Award by the Survival Skills and Ethics Program, University <strong>of</strong> Pittsburgh. Recipient <strong>of</strong> the 2007<br />

Chancellor’s Distinguished Teaching Award, University <strong>of</strong> Pittsburgh.<br />
