D.R. Horton Homes (fka Continental) - Exterior Color Codes
For the Tollgate Crossing community of the Tollgate Crossing Metro District
These exterior paint codes are valid (as of 25 Aug, 2013) for any home in the Tollgate Crossing
community of the Tollgate Crossing Metro District.* You do not need Design Review Committee
(DRC) approval if you are repainting the exterior of your home with the original palette. If you use a
different palette (colors) you must seek DRC approval. If you choose another Tollgate Crossing
palette (from the list below) you will most likely be approved with no questions.
*I do not have color codes for homes that were built by Oakwood, Newbridge or other builders in the
Tollgate Crossing community. If you have information regarding the color codes from other builders, I
would appreciate the information.
History of this document: In August of 2013, the HOA management (at the time that was Clifton
Larson Allen) contacted me with an update to the ‘approved palettes’ for Tollgate Crossing. In that
new document (the ‘Consolidated Paint Book’), Palettes #1 an #4 were missing (palette #3 was
repeated twice). These inconsistencies were not present in my ‘paintcodes.pdf’ document, so I tried
to resolve the apparent discrepancies with the HOA’s ‘official’ record. I continued in my efforts to
resolve these issues with the HOA management (CLA), the Covenants enforcement contractor
(Susan Ellis of DiscoverCPS/hired by CLA) and D.R. Horton. Eventually I received a revised
document which corrected the repeated and missing palettes, but that document was a simple black
and white scan of the codes (from DR Horton records) and the pages were not oriented properly. I
created my own ‘version’ reformatting the document into more professional looking document. After
I created my version of the paint palettes, the HOA created a hard copy ‘Consolidated Paint Book’,
which contained color swatches. In August of 2015, I learned (while helping other Tollgate Crossing
residents) that the HOA had apparently ‘lost’ the ‘Consolidated Paint Book’. As far as I know (as of
Aug 2015), the HOA no longer has an ‘official’ book or list of approved paint codes. This paint codes
document (my version) remains (as far as I know) the only consolidated record of official paint codes
that were used by D.R. Horton when they built the homes in our community. Any questions regarding
approved colors/paint palettes should be directed to the HOA management (AMI) - email:
, phone: 720-633-9722
Color Samples: Note that the color samples beneath each name and code (on the pages
that follow) are only meant to be examples. Any colors you see in this document should not
be taken as ‘true representations’ of what the paint colors will look like after they’re mixed,
applied, and dried on your home. This document is primarily meant to present the paint
codes and their corresponding names (used by the builder (DR Horton) in Tollgate
Crossing). Several different paint brands were used by the developer, including: Kwal,
ColorLife, Color Guild, General Paint. No representation is made as to the color matching
represented by codes and colors. The author made best attempts to match the
developer’s codes to color matching codes available online. The author has no affiliation or
copyright to represent various paint brands. Color matching is done as a service to
residents, and does not represent an offer to mix or provide paints or matching services of
any sort. The author of this document is not responsible for colors that do not match your
expectations. To ensure proper color matching you should consult with a professional paint
mixer.
* Bone: Attempts to resolve the official Kwal color code/number for ‘Bone’ have been unsuccessful. In August of 2015, a
resident had a Sherwin Williams paint store match the Kwal ‘Bone’ paint on the exterior of their home. See the image of the
paint label for more information: .
Note: Kwal paints were produced by the Comex Group (Consrcio Comex SA de CV - A Mexican paint maker) when their
purchase by Sherwin-Williams was initiated in 2012. Effective April 4th, 2014, Sherwin-Williams pulled out of that deal, and
PPG Industries has agreed to buy Comex for $2.3 billion (ref/source Wikipedia (Aug, 2015)).
