Sea Witch Festival: Things to Know 

FIRST AID STATIONS. Sussex County 

Emergency Medical Services will have a first 

aid station on Saturday, October 24th from 

10AM-Dusk and Sunday, October 25th from 

10AM-5PM. It will be located at Rehoboth 

Avenue and the Boardwalk. There is also a First 

Aid Station at the RB Fire Station. 

INCLEMENT WEATHER. For information on 

weather related cancellations and/or postponement 

of festival events, tune in to WGMD 92.7 

FM, BIG Classic Rock 98.5 & 103.5, The B 

95.3 & 101.7 and Hot Country 107.7 or call the 

Chamber at 302-227-2233 ext. 12 for recorded 

updates. Updates will also be posted on the 

Chamber’s Facebook page. Don’t forget to bring 

your slickers & umbrellas in case of magic rain. 

LOST & FOUND. For lost children and/or items, 

report to the Information Table at the Rehoboth 

Beach Bandstand for assistance. (Rain Location: 

RB Fire Station). Unclaimed items are taken to 

the Rehoboth Beach Police Station at the end of 

the Festival.

RESTROOMS. Public restrooms are located 

at the Bandstand & Rehoboth Avenue, the

Costume Parade kicks off Saturday, Oct. 24th at 11AM 

It is recommended to ARRIVE EARLY...9:30AM or before! Rehoboth Avenue will be closed Saturday 

from 10:30AM-2PM for the Costume Parade. See pages 3-5 for important parking information! 

PARADE DETAILS. Costumed public is welcome to enter 

the walking section of the Parade and Costume Contest. 

The parade is scheduled to begin at 11AM. The number 

of walkers is unlimited and registration begins at 10AM at 

the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center (229 Rehoboth 

Avenue) with walkers lining up outside the Hall. The 

walkers and balloon handlers will lead the parade turning 

right out of the Convention Center parking lot, heading 

West on Rehoboth Avenue. Walkers will cross into 

the eastbound lanes of Rehoboth Avenue at Christian St. 

(M&T Bank/Jack Lingo Realtor) and will proceed east on 

the Avenue towards the Bandstand turning in front of the 

Bandstand and continue on the Avenue westward; finishing 

at Village By The Sea. People Only - No pets, livestock, 

wild animals or reptiles. Get your Sea Witch Mask 

with $1 donation! 

A maximum of fifty (50) pre-registered motorized vehicles, 

floats, and groups of 20+ will begin lining up at 

330 Rehoboth Avenue and State Street at 10AM. Preregistered 

entries will follow the walkers. Candy, beads, 

etc. may not be thrown from said rolling/motorized 

vehicle, but can be handed to spectators. The merged 

groups will proceed east on Rehoboth Avenue (toward) 

the Bandstand and continue on the Avenue westward. 

The motorized vehicles will follow Rehoboth Avenue out of 

town to Route 1. See parade route on page 3. 

GRAND MARSHALLS. The parade will be lead by the 

2014 Business of the Year, Big Fish Restaurant Group 

& the Sea Witch Clipper Ship pirated by the Stewart 

Family. 

AWARDS. Costumes are judged during the parade as 

they pass the review stand. Everyone receives a parade 

ribbon at registration. The top 25 costumed, top 10 

motorized and judges’ favorite band will receive trophies. 

Winners will be posted at the Information Table Area 

after 2PM and on www.Beach-Fun.com on the following 

Monday. 

PARADE ON TV. New for 2015, the Costume Parade will 

be televised live on Saturday, October 24th from 11AM- 

2PM on WRDE NBC Coast TV. The parade will re-air on 

Sunday, October 25th from 11AM-2PM on MyCoziTV. 

PARADE BAD WEATHER PLAN. In the event of unsafe 

weather, the parade may be postponed until 11AM on 

Sunday, October 25, 2015. In the event of postponement 

ONLY WALKING PARTICIPANTS who can meet the 

requirements of the Boardwalk size, etc. may participate in 

the costume walking parade on the Rehoboth Boardwalk 

(follow the same route as dog parade, see p. 15). THERE 

IS NO SCHEDULED RAIN DATE OR LOCATION FOR 

FLOATS OR MOTORIZED VEHICLES.

Hunters travel from site to site to view the clues. 

Remember the clues are in no particular order. 

With the aid of the clues, hunters take their best guess as 

to where the invisible Sea Witch is hidden. 

All guesses must be turned in by 5PM! The earliest correct

Fiddlers’ Festival

Delaware State’s Official Fiddlers’ Festival has been billed 

as “top string!” Fiddlers and banjo players alike provide 

a full day of foot-stompin’ entertainment on Saturday, 

October 24th at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center. 

With a cash prize contest, the audience becomes the 

recipient of some of the best pickin’ possible. There is both 

an adult and children’s competition for best fiddle, blue 

grass, banjo playing, and new this year...best mandolin! 

No fee, however donations are appreciated. Concessions

Woodland String Band Performances 

Saturday, October 24th · During the Parade and

The Woodland String Band/Mummers was established 

in February 1926 and has competed in the annual 

Philadelphia Mummers Parade every New Year’s Day since 

January 1, 1927. Woodland originated in the Southwest 

section of Philadelphia and moved to its current location 

on “Two Street” in the heart of “Mummers Row” in July of

One Mile Fright Walk

“Feet Don’t Leave Me Now.” The Sea Witch 5K Classic 

Run and 1 Mile Fright Walk begins at Grove Park at 9AM 

on Sunday, October 25th; registration begins at 7:30 AM. 

There will also be a packet pick-up on Saturday, October 

24th from 5-7PM at Grove Park. Many of the 500+ runners, 

including entire families, arrive in costume. Prizes are 

presented not only for time, but also for the best costumes.

Family Pumpkin Decorating Contest. Bring your decorated pumpkin based on your favorite movie or book! Decorated pumpkins 

can be dropped off at the Convention Center between 10-11AM. All are welcome to vote for their favorite pumpkin by 

completing an event evaluation. Voting is from 11AM-2:30PM. Families can pick up their own pumpkins up until 3:30PM. 

Abandoned pumpkins will meet a gruesome end. 

Mask Making. 11:15AM-2PM. Make & decorate your own mask, then take pics and selfies against the photo wall. All ages.

- Eyeball Relays: teams will have a bucket of “eyeballs” that must be transported by spoon to the bucket on the other side

The Best Costumed Dog Contest is set for Sunday, October 25th. Dogs only and their humans will parade down the Boardwalk giving 

the crowd an eyeful. No livestock, wild animals or reptiles are permitted in the contest. Former bow-wow critters include those 

outfitted as lifeguards, Egyptians, chickens, cowboys, chefs, police, etc. (See dog parade route below). 

Participants should be prepared for a 1 & 1/2 mile walk including line-up, parade and return to Rehoboth Avenue from Laurel 

Street exit. Registration begins at 2PM. Dogs and their owners will register on Lakeview Avenue, next to the Henlopen Hotel, 

where they will receive their entry number and parade ribbon. The registration fee is $5.00 per dog. Dogs will be judged immediately 

following registration and before parading. All registered participants will line up at the North end of the Boardwalk parallel to 

the beach. Winners will be carrying a prominently decorated wand. Don’t forget bottled water for both the 4-legged and 2-legged! 

The monsters wag their way down the Boardwalk beginning at 3PM. The parade will proceed south on the Boardwalk from the 

Henlopen Hotel to Star of the Sea Condominium at Laurel Street. Monster police wearing orange vests will be positioned on the 

Boardwalk for spectator control and parade route passage. Participants will exit the Boardwalk and proceed down Laurel Street, 

turning right onto King Charles Avenue/First Street. From King Charles Avenue/First Street participants can proceed back towards 

the Rehoboth Bandstand and Boardwalk via Rehoboth Avenue & disperse. Winners will be announced at the Rehoboth Bandstand 

at 4:30PM and showcased on stage. 

SPECIAL NOTE: Dogs only in parade. Non motorized small floats, wagons, etc. may be used on the Boardwalk but may not be 

brought on to the Bandstand; only leashed or carried dogs will be received on the stage.

Milford Community Band, was established shortly after the

through which audiences all over Delaware could be treated 

to live performances of these beloved charts; and to provide a

Paul Zavinsky is a seasoned entertainer. As a guitarist/singer he 

has performed solo, in duets and bands. His performances have 

been as varied as his musical selections, including concerts, 

festivals, bars, restaurants, weddings, parties and fundraising 

events. He has always enjoyed all kinds of music and it shows 

by the genres he plays: soft rock, country, blues, folk and some 

light jazz. His repertoire includes some originals as well. Paul 

has been fortunate over the years with his music, especially 

while living outside of Washington DC where he and his partner 

at the time opened for national acts like Asleep at the Wheel, 

Pure Prairie League, John Prine, Steve Goodman and Tammy 

Wynette, to name a few.
