DENSO 1st DENSO Starters Since introducing its first commercial automotive Starters in the early 1960s, DENSO has poured its world-leading engineering expertise into developing smaller, lighter units that can maintain the highest possible output. In 2001, for example, DENSO introduced the world’s first Planetary Reduction Segment Conductor Motor (PS) Starter featuring a square conductor in the armature coil. The PS starter was 22 percent lighter and 14 percent shorter than the Reduction A type (RA) Starter, delivering improved fuel efficiency and an easier fit. Today, DENSO offers two, advanced types of Starter for aftermarket customers: RA-Starter > High-speed motor with an improved deceleration ratio and a heatresistant electric wire reduces the size and weight of the motor > Cold-forged spline reduces the size and weight of the magnetic switch PS-Starter > A rectangular conductor and surface commutator in the armature, together with a magnet between the main electrodes of the yoke, reduces the size and weight of the starter > The damper unit combined with a high deceleration ratio further reduces starter size and reduces driving noise DENSO Alternators DENSO introduced its first automotive Alternators in the 1960s. Since then we have pioneered a variety of new alternator designs capable of producing more electrical power more efficiently, yet in a smaller, lighter unit. In 2000, for example, DENSO introduced the world’s first SC (Segment Conductor) alternator using a rectangular conductor for its stator coil. By raising the winding density (space factor) from 45 percent to 70 percent, we were able to make the SC Alternator 20 percent lighter and achieve 50 percent higher output than a conventional type. Today, DENSO offers two, advanced types of Alternator for aftermarket customers: DENSO 1st Alternator with Small Internal Fan > Optimised stator and rotor sizes improve the magnetic circuit to increase output > Smaller pulley diameter allows a faster rotor > Fan features two blades, integrated with the rotor, to reduce fan noise, size and weight SC Alternator > The world’s first rectangular conductor in the stator coil increases winding density, reduces weight and increases output > One chip IC regulator 4
