Christ the King’s Mount is located
in Aglona County, on the shore of
Lake Aglona. Two kilometres along
the Aglona to Dagda Road there is a
sign on the right-hand side showing
the way to King’s Mount Park.
The sculpture park has been
created in honour of God, Jesus
Christ, as a holy place from which
people can gain spiritual values.
The sculpture park also hosts
beautiful ornamental gardens
which contain 500 different plants.
More than two hundred oak trees
and fruit trees have been planted in
the park, which has been designed
by Anita Kazaka from SIA Baltezers.
Several hundred people have
taken part in its creation. It is so
wonderful that this world opens up
opportunities for honouring God’s
work and strengthening people’s
faith by means of offering them
beautiful sculptures to enjoy.
King’s Mount is surrounded
by a special aura.
Climb the Mount and feel it.
The sculpture park is unique, since
it depicts the history of mankind
from Adam to the present day
according to the Testament. People
have engaged in its creation in
honour of God, Jesus Christ. More
than fifty different sculptures and
sculptural compositions have
been installed in the Mount area.
Together with gardens and artificial
ponds, the sculpture park covers
an area of twenty hectares.
This hill has been called the King’s
Mount for a long time. Until September
2006, it was enclosed only by meadows
and cornfields. In the beginning, the
place was overgrown and had no roads
leading to it. Jānis Stupāns had been
thinking about ways of using his land
for noble purposes. He wanted to create
the Way of the Cross with fourteen
stops around the lake.Today, the area
has undergone considerable changes:
a new road leads through the gate to
the sculptures, an information board
details the park and the sculptures that
have been created for it, a road goes
around the ponds, and Christ’s preaching
house has also found its place. Paved
roads coexist with the beautiful blooming
garden. A picturesque landscape
encompasses the King’s Mount.
Madalāni hill fort is located nearby.
The idea of creating a sculpture park
belongs to Ēriks Delpers and Jānis
Stupāns. They were united in the idea
of devoting their thoughts and the
available options in order to honour
Jesus Christ with this sculpture park.
Ēriks Delpers is a woodcarver, the
author of five books, and a pilot by
profession. He also paints, takes photos
and gives lectures in many cities. Jānis
Stupāns is an entrepreneur and a landowner
who is eager to honour God,
Jesus Christ with real work. The sculpture
park at Christ the King’s Mount has
been created together with friends,
other like-minded people and helpers.
The gardens have been designed
by Anita Kazaka from SIA Baltezers.
According to the New Testament,
we are aware that Jesus Christ has
conquered and, due to His victory, the
Jesus Christ the Conqueror sculpture
was unveiled on 15 September
2006. It was created from a 600
year-old oak tree witha girth of
4.5 metres and a length of fourteen
metres. The tree had already stopped
growing and was waiting for people to
find the bestuse for it. The Angel with
the Book of Life sculpture was unveiled
on the same day. Before the creation of
these sculptures, Ēriks Delpers was
addressed from heaven by Jesus Christ
who said, “Let the sculpture of Christ
the King be made in honour of God’s
victories. Let it read: Jesus Christ, Lord
and God, has conquered. Let the
sculpture of God’s Angel holding the
Book of Life in its hands be made and let
it read: Blessed are those who are written
in the Book of Life. There is no day in
which we do not hear the words of
gratitude and appreciation that come
from people. And this is wonderful, since
we have put in a great deal of effort in
creating the sculpture garden at the
King’s Mount. This has come directly
from our hearts. Only those who were
involved in the creation process know
the amount of effort that was required.
The process of sculpture creation is
rather complex. A sculpture lives in the
author’s mind every day until the moment
of enlightenment at which everything
becomes clear.
2 3

What would anyone do with
such a large tree, 4.5 metres thick
and fourteen metres long? Give
it to a sculptor to handle a large
project like this - to create the
sculpture of Christ the Conqueror!
But where do you start?
Ēriks Delpers says, “I wouldn’t have
been able to create the sculpture
of Christ on my own, without
God’s blessing and enlightenment.
This is in God’s power only. At the
most crucial moments I felt the
touch of God. My friends who
helped me in the creation of the
sculpture felt it too. Special signs
could be read in the sky that we
managed to capture in photos.
2006
And so began the work on the
sculpture. Bark was peeled from
the tree and the tree itself was
prepared for carving the sculpture.
The work carried out by the author
cannot be explained by words.
Slowly, slowly, shapes and then
the face of Jesus Christ emerged.
During the creation process, a
three-year-old boy named Edvards
was playing around the sculpture.
He said wise words to himself,
“Jesus Christ is the King.” Many
signs indicated that God Himself
had a hand in this creation. The
feeling of awe and wonder was
all around. Two large sculptures
were made in three months as a
result of some industrious work.
Jānis Stupāns
Landowner
I bought the land that includes the
King’s Mount in 2000 while working
with trees in the Aglona area, and I
believe that this purchase was already
written in the stars. I had been dreaming
about the land that I could devote to the
honour of God for years. Earlier I had
a vision of Christ the King’s sculpture
standing on the mount. In my vision
I saw three white crosses which, as far
as I understood, meant Golgotha in the
context of Aglona’s Way of the Cross.
When I started looking for a place
to build my family a home, seven
places on the King’s Mount seemed
appropriate, yet somehow I knew that
the hill where the sculpture of Christ
the Conqueror stands today should be
preserved for God’s purpose.
Later, I understood that all of this
land should be kept for God’s glory. I
started to take care of the place. Part of
the area was swampy and overgrown
with bushes, and it was difficult to
get to the lake. There was no access
for vehicles. I started to improve the
area. Expenditure was considerable. I
wondered why I was doing it. Then I
consoled myself with the thought that
I was preparing this place for some
greater purpose. Between 2000 and
2006, I went on with the work and
peace and joy filled my heart.
And then I met Ēriks Delpers. I
knew from his books that we shared
views on faith. This was beginning of a
friendship and a spirit of cooperation.
An idea of creating a garden with
sculptures of Bible characters at the
King’s Mount was born. Let it all be
made in honour of God!
To start off with, we decided to
create the sculpture of Christ the
Conqueror in honour of His works for
us. In spring 2006, we found a huge
oak tree on my property, one that
was around 600 years old. This tree
seemed to have grown expressly to be
used in the creation of the sculpture
of Jesus Christ the Conqueror. The
tree had already stopped growing and
was waiting for man’s touch. Another
beautiful oak tree was used to make the
Angel with the Book of Life sculpture.
The work on the sculptures
continued all summer long. At first
the bark and the new layer of growth
(a thickness of between five or ten
centimetres) had to be taken off to
prepare the tree for carving. The girth
of the largest oak tree was 4.5 metres,
while its length was fourteen metres. It
was not easy work but it was beautiful.
I felt closer to God than ever before.
The sculptures were made by using
axes, chisels, chainsaws, planes and
hand grinding machines.
The sculptures were installed in the
autumn. Work went really well right
from the first day. Many things were in
God’s power only. Every minute God
showed that He is with us. During the
work we witnessed many of God’s signs
– a sun rainbow, a Testament sky, a
moon rainbow, and other miracles.
I would like to emphasise that I
have never demanded anything special,
I never requested that the sculpture
of Christ the King be located on my
land – everything should happen only
according to God’s will. Honour, glory,
and gratitude to the Holy Trinity, God
Almighty forever and ever!
All works are carried out in good
conscience and according to the highest
quality and performance requirements.
The big pond and the islands have also
been created to improve the park area.
Earlier it was a swamp that had become
overgrown with bushes, and now it
is a much-improved place with three
islands and two bridges. We hope that
this will all bring joy to people. The
pond contains fish. People can take
a boat ride, fish and relax. It is nice to
have such a lovely view!
I am not measuring the expenditure
on park improvement work, or on road
construction and the development of
infrastructure. I am doing this work in
honour of God. God has given me a lot
of wonderful opportunities and it is in
honour of God that I am devoting my
time and resources to this work.
God knows everything beforehand,
better than I do, and I am always trying
to listen to His call with all my heart. I
pray to God every day to guide me in
life and let His will be done rather than
mine. God is my rock, in whom I will
trust.
Christ the King’s Mount is God’s
testimony to the Bible’s truth and
Christ’s victory given to all churches.
I hope that people will see the
sculpture park as an opportunity for
strengthening their faith in the one and
only God. It is important for me to pass
Jesus Christ’s message to people, so that
they can all believe in the words of the
Testament. I am always grateful to God
for an opportunity to honour Him at
Christ the King’s Mount.
2007
In January 2007, Ēriks Delpers,
sculptor, had a vision in a dream in
which twelve people were carrying
a large cross on their way to Christ.
He heard Christ clearly saying,
“Sculpt a composition for the King’s
Mount that depicts twelve people
who symbolise the twelve tribes
of Israel carrying the cross on their
way to Me. Each sculpture shall
have the name of the tribe and
the cross shall read: Jesus Christ
says, ‘Whoever wants to be my
disciple must deny themselves and
take up their cross and follow me’.”
Blessed are those who take up
their cross, follow Jesus Christ, and
have already come closer to Him
The narrow and the right way
shown in God’s Testament is the
only one that leads to God. The
Kingdom of Heaven has come
near. Believers can already feel and
see Jesus Christ with their hearts.
This idea has been incorporated
into the sculptural composition.
Sculptures were made in Kastire,
which is where Jānis Stupāns
lived. To accomplish this mission,
seven oak trees were required.
Oak, as a tree, is rather specific,
since new wood can be found
under its bark, forming a layer of
around three to ten centimetres
thick. External climate conditions
quickly cause its decay, so this
layer has to be taken off. Oak trees
contain tannins which promote
the preservation of oak wood.
When the first spring wind came
in 2007, we got down to the
work on the twelve tribes and
the large cross. The idea seemed
so complicated and almost
unreal. The cross is about twelve
metres long and is carried by
twelve representatives of the
tribes. It reads: Jesus Christ says,
“Whoever wants to be my disciple
must deny themselves and take
up their cross and follow me.”
The work was completed in the
space of six months. Mounting was
difficult and took a lot of effort.
Thanks to the work that was put
in by everyone involved and to
God’s blessing everything went
more than well. The cross is very
impressive. People regard the
King’s Mount as a holy place and
come to visit it from all over the
country. In 2007, King’s Mount was
already being visited by people
from Poland, France, Belarus,
Russia and other countries.
The sculptor is genuinely grateful
to Jānis Stupāns, Vija Stupāne
and their family, Ģirts Skuja,
Aivars Dobelis, Ainārs Freimanis,
Ivars Prullis, Dzintra Delpere,
Rimants Pakevičs, Pēteris Černis,
and all those others who totally
devoted their work and love
to this project. Jānis Stupāns
ensured that his house was
entirely suitable for the job.
The vision of The Cross and the
Twelve Tribes sculptural composition
lived in Ēriks Delpers’ mind for
six long months until 7 July 2007
when it was finally unveiled.
The Mount and sculptures filled
with light and people’s hearts
became full of peace and joy.
About
the Author
of Sculptures
Every person must show their faith in
God by their works. The first sculptures
to be made by Ēriks Delpers were
installed in Lielvārde, at the Pumpurs’
Museum Park, and one of them happens
to be the sculpture of Jesus Christ.
The revelation of Jesus Christ has been
described by the author in his first
book, entitled Atklāsme (Revelation).
This was in 1990. Jesus Christ appeared
in the sky and said to the author, “Take a
tree and carve the image of Jesus Christ
image on it, so that a face with strong
eyes, and hands, and legs can be seen.
The cross shall go through all of this,
and the image shall be of wood, for
God is everywhere and in everything.
You will carve and you will succeed. The
sculpture of Jesus Christ has already
been giving pleasure to all visitors
to Lielvārde Park for twenty years.
Ēriks Delpers, sculptor, was born in
Liepna, near the town of Alūksne.
He fulfilled his childhood dream by
becoming a professional pilot. For
seventeen years he flew in the spacious
fields of God – the Sky – piloting
ultrasonic aircraft. Ever since childhood,
the sculptor has enjoyed gazing at the
sky and at the stars, while dreaming
about the beauty of the world. He
played music and took part in a lot of
sporting activities. He picked up his
first skills in working with wood and
metal from his father and grandfather.
For four years he attended DOMA
Sculpture Studio at the VEF Community
Centre which was run by a sculptor
by the name of Jānis Karlovs. Later
on, when he was creating sculptures
from oak, this knowledge proved to
be more than useful. Lielvārde Park
hosts four sculptures under the theme
of the Bear Slayer epic that have been
made by Ēriks Delpers. In total he has
carved more than 200 sculptures. His
parents taught him the Lord’s Prayer in
early childhood, saying that it was so
important to know it. For him, every day
is a journey in faith and the love of God.
Events in the worlds of the Heavenly
Spirit and on Earth that have unfolded
with the spiritual revelation to the
author have been portrayed in over
250 paintings and more than a thousand
drawings. The author has always
faithfully served God by following the
calling of his heart. He tirelessly shares
his verities and wisdom with people
both in lectures and in daily life. The
author has witnessed the greatness
of God’s love and grace for people.
Faith in God is an enormous power.
Walking in the blessing of Jesus Christ,
Ēriks Delpers has included his testimonies
in several of his books:
Atklāsme, 1999
Iespēja izdzīvot, 2000
Zelta graudi, 2001
Light in the heart. This really is a wonderful present, gratefulness to God.
Thanks to the good people who have created this beautiful place.
It’s an overwhelming joy and a great honour to be here.
20.07.2008, P T from Riga
It was worth going such a long way to enjoy the beauty of this place, if even
for a minute. This place takes your breath away and makes you bow your head
in front of the Creator. Our group really liked this place and we would like
to come here again.
23.07.2008, S K from Sigulda
The biggest surprise, the miracle in today’s trip, is that everything around us
here is the work of both people and God. A special thanks to the talented guide,
Terēzija. May all your plans for the future work out!
25.07.2008, I from Jaunpils Notes on the Work at the King’s Mount
from Landscape Designer Anita Kazaka
I am very happy to be part of this
grand project. I feel deeply honoured
and very grateful that Ēriks Delpers
asked me to design the greenery.
At the very beginning, I was given
photos of a meadow and the idea of how
this greenery should roughly look was
imparted to me.
During the planning process
thoughts popped into my mind easily
and ideas got approved quickly.
I have always consulted with
my husband, Varis Kazaks, as to
which types of plant would be most
appropriate for this specific situation.
As I felt a great sense of
responsibility for the job that had been
assigned to me, before I even started
on it I arranged plants in the form
of the sun’s rays at my place so that I
could precisely calculate the number
of them (on 6 September 2009), since
the size of a plant determines the
number of plants that are used in the
composition’s design.
A year later, in July, the next group
of sculptures were being made and
existing greenery had to be improved
14 15

efore their unveiling. Then Ēriks
Delpers told me that all the improvement
work would be carried out, so that I
could just slowly walk around and
think about the greenery at The Cross
and the Twelve Tribes sculpture. And
that was exactly what I was trying to do
devoting all my attention only to this
new spot. I came up with a solution for
its design in no time at all. I was even
slightly surprised, since the new vision
in which I saw only a fragment was a
part of a beautiful delicate ornament in
orange. But it was completely different
from the way the first greenery had been
arranged. Later on, wherever I went my
thoughts were often on this composition
and I was trying to find solutions for
reproducing it in nature.
After drawing and approving
the plan we got down to the first
organisational work. At first we marked
out the composition and then the next
day a large number of people came to
assist in digging, taking out the barren
soil of the hill and filling the place with
rich soil, as well as arranging plants in
the planned composition and planting
them. The work went on late into the
night before it was finished, ending up
being completed under floodlights.
This could be called the second
major part of the job. Another set of
events was the planting of fruit trees.
The idea was that, as the fruit trees grew,
travellers, guests and anyone making
their contribution to this project could
refresh themselves with a piece of fresh
fruit. We turned to Inese Drudze from
Pūre Horticultural Research Centre for
assistance in selecting the right types
of fruit trees. Apple trees and pear
trees were arranged in a nice, subtle
arc enclosing the mount. Moreover, we
specially avoided spots where there was
standing groundwater. Every family
was offered an opportunity to plant
their own apple tree.
Another wonderful experience for
me was the Garden of Eden, whose
beginnings lay a great deal of time
earlier. The first Garden of Eden I have
created was arranged indoors, namely
in the White Hall of the Riga Latvian
Society House during the Flower Ball
Festival in July 2007.
That was the new Eden with the
Water of Life in the centre, the legendary
bird, a home for everyone and a feeling
that you are highly welcome in this
house full of love.
When Ēriks Delpers asked me to
design the Garden of Eden at the King’s
Mount it seemed that I had very likely
passed the first test and now it was
time for the real one. It was easier this
time, since I already had an idea about
colours, for instance, when selecting
flowers. And this time I could realise
the ambition that I had not been able
to achieve indoors – including a lot
of smooth, lush grass by planting
ornamental gramineous plants. Plants
were grouped around the sculptures of
Adam and Eve’s children by creating
a free but balanced pattern in terms
of colours and forms, so that flowers
would grow all summer long. I have
a special relationship with the Angel
in this Garden. He is clothed in gentle
white plants.
The work on this project is not
yet completed. Two roads run from
the Garden of Eden – the broad one
and the narrow one – and these must
be supplemented with greenery. The
sculpture of Moses and many other
sculptures will also look greener. The
biggest project planned for the near
future includes planting greenery near
the church.
I would like to say THANKS to all
those who have assisted in arranging
the greenery and in TAKING CARE
of it, since without continuous care
during the season all those wonderful
ideas could not reach people as had
been planned from the beginning.
Kind regards, Anita Kazaka
2008
In 2008, the Mary and Baby Jesus
sculpture was unveiled.
The sculpture has been
supplemented with a heart
created of ornamental plants
that come into flower in summer.
Visitors are eager to stand within
this for a while and feel the touch
of God in front of the sculpture.
The Baby Jesus feels loved and
honoured in Mary’s hands.
He is small but already great –
made of God to be over us.
Where Soul Relaxes
Private land is rarely donated to charity or
cultural needs without asking anything
in return. Jānis Stupāns has donated his
land in order that a beautiful park could
be created, a garden with sculptures
in honour of God and for people’s joy.
Its central aim and its main task is to
testify to the events described in God’s
Testament and to provide all people with
an opportunity to think about God, Jesus
Christ and other spiritual values, regardless
of their denomination and belief.
“I felt and understood that the project
for a sculpture garden would be very
important. The installation of sculptures
could really remind people of God,
Jesus Christ, and at the same time
we could create a lovely, beautiful
environment in honour of God. This
task required a beautiful place, which
is why I offered my plot of land on
the banks of the lake,” recalls Jānis.
Ēriks Delpers recalls his experiences of
The Cross and the Twelve Tribes sculpture:
“The major task was to create sculptures
that looked alive, each with its own
spark. To make it happen, a great deal of
my own experience and emotions had
to be put into the emerging images. It
is important that each sculpture works
separately, and as a whole they all have
to work together and live in harmony.
We had to install sculptures on a slope of
about twelve degrees: twelve sculptures
had to be dug in deep enough and kept
at the same level, and then onto these
sculptures we had to place a large cross
consisting of two parts and measuring
twelve metres in length and seven metres
n width. The entire structure had to be
fastened in place so that it could not
collapse and would be able to remain
stable in the future. King’s Mount is
surrounded by a special aura. It is better
to come here on foot and leave your car
in the car park in order to enjoy the unique
atmosphere that prevails throughout
the sculpture park.
The Lotus Flower sculpture was
created from one oak tree in several
sections. When taking the tree
down, it split into a number of parts
that were used for the sculpture.
People can virtually feel the energy
flow in the centre of the Lotus
Flower. God has created the lotus
flower of energy under people’s
feet as well. In the centre of the
flower they connect to a massive
energy flow. Sea buckthorn shrubs
have been planted around the
lotus flower in the shape of an arc.
A gate has been installed on the
way to the sculpture of Jesus
Christ the Conqueror as a symbol
of the Gate to God’s Kingdom.
When going through the gate
let us all remember that only
those who have followed God’s
Testament will be able to enter
Heaven, the Kingdom of God. The
gate was made of stainless steel,
according to an idea presented
by the garden’s designer. Metal
artist Normunds Dāvids is the
author of this masterpiece.
Jesus is love. God is love. Love stands above all.
Thanks for this wonderful monument to love –
King’s Mount, which has been created in love and in honour of God. Everything
that has been created in love and in honour of God stands above the mundane.
Words aren’t enough to express the feelings this stirs. A big thank you to all
of the people who have been instrumental in creating this.
07.08.2008, V S
King’s Mount is a wonderful and unique place in the world. Earlier this place
contained only a bare hill. With God, everything is possible and complete. So
complete that nothing can be more complete. The touch of God can be felt
everywhere: in wooden sculptures, in trees, and even in the grass. Peace and
fulfilment are all around. The mundane world with all its hurry has stepped
aside and become unimportant. We can change everything for good, pursue
aims for our existence and ask for the blessings of God Most High. I am happy
that I live in the here and now.
Our lives become meaningful only when we live them together with God, only if
we have confidence in God. I’d like to thank all of the people who’ve had a hand
in the creation of this holy place. Each of us has enjoyed all of God’s blessings
that we were willing to receive. God loves us all, and let’s all love each other.
May God be with you!
It is the feeling of pure cleanliness
and clarity without the distraction of
any unwanted thoughts and mundane
problems. This is where time stops.
When you touch the tree you come to
realise that you are creating something
beautiful, something that stands above
the mundane, and therefore physical
effort is required. At the start, sculptures
are just ordinary trees. It is God that
makes them complete by supplying
an idea of how to make them, and it
is people that put so much effort into
their creation. Only through the divine
can sculptures become complete, bring
holiness, and remind one of the truths
that are written in the Testament, and of
God’s reality and completeness.
During the creation process God
works through the people who are
making sculptures, providing them with
all the things that are necessary for their
work. The creation of sculptures is not
an easy jobit requires giving and putting
in the tree everything that you have at
that given moment. Then, suddenly the
sculpture comes to life and remains
alive. You can talk to it, you can feel it.
It is no doubt that people cannot create
something so beautiful and complete on
their own. Only God, through the hands
of people, can create such a beautiful and
complete image with a rich inner world,
feelings and a temper. The creation and
treatment of sculptures are in God’s
power only.
During the creation of sculptures
your physical body and mind are
somewhere to one side, letting your
inner substance do the job. God guides
you through the Spirit and you never
feel tired. You live together with the
creation process, and you have grown
together with the creation process.
Your hands are doing the job physically,
while your mind is revelling in joy at
making something new and beautiful.
This feeling always prevails, even at the
beginning and when doing the smallest
tasks.
Visitors’ Book
Each time we go to the King’s Mount we feel like celebrating. Here we can feel
the complete and real presence of God and love that give us wings. This is
a little world in which to shelter from city noise and mundane problems and
somewhere to find spiritual fulfilment. We never simply go home, we always fly!
Thank God for the King’s Mount! Thanks to all those who’ve taken
part in its creation!
quiet and hear something that they hadn’t noticed in their daily lives.
A sincere thanks to Terēzija for welcoming us, for her narration and tea!
It’s nice to know that there are people who are so open, making our life better
with their altruism.
The very beginning was interesting.
When starting work on the sculptures in
2006, I had little experience with wood
sculpture. At first we were peeling bark off
the oak tree for hours, and then we treated
the tree using chainsaws and hand grinding
machines. I am very grateful to Ēriks
Delpers who regularly came to me and gave
me some helpful tips.
I gradually gained experience with and
understanding in the creation of sculptures.
The first sculptures were created at Jānis
Stupāns’ house. At the end of each busy
working day there was wood dust everywhere.
I would like to give thanks to Jānis’
family for their hospitality. After working
on the sculptures we could wash in his
bathhouse and have a rest. The feelings that
came over me were nice and interesting,
and certainly not easily forgettable. We
witnessed many of God’s signs and
testimonies.
When we saw how the sculptures
gradually emerged from the tree we were
filled with a great sense of joy at the work
we had done and we cared about neither the
dust nor our own physical discomfort. The
creation process itself, when an image breaks
through the log, is the best feeling. I have been
making sculptures for the King’s Mount for
four years already. It is really interesting to be
able to work together with my friends under
Ēriks’ guidance. When we were creating the
sculptural composition Adam, Eve, and their
Children, I realised for the first time that I am
also capable of making sculptures.
The greatest joy is to see that your work
pleases people and that they are grateful for
the things you have done. It is important
that everyone honours God, Jesus Christ.
of Sculptures
In autumn 2009, the sculptural
composition, Angels with the
Seventh Trumpet, was unveiled. It
reads: But in the days of the voice
of the seventh angel, when he shall
begin to sound, the mystery of God
should be finished. People should
think about the promise described
in God’s Testament and be ready
for the day of Christ’s coming.
The trumpet has been made
of stainless steel by metalwork
artist, Normunds Dāvids.
In autumn 2009, an oak tree
avenue with 110 trees was created
in the park area. Each family that
contributed to this work planted
their own oak tree. The trees will
create a beautiful landscape.
Christ the King’s Mount is indeed
a holy place, one in which I always feel
the touch of God and His help. I have
been shovelling snow, building a fire in a
fireplace, and welcoming visitors for five
winters already. In summer I improve the
area and tell visitors about God’s garden.
Everything I do, I do with a great sense
of responsibility. God judges everyone
according to what they have done.
Following God’s Testament can make
people so happy!
As spring approaches, the number of
visitors grows, culminating in the highest
numbers in summer. I am happy about
each visitor, since God washes those who
believe with the Holy Spirit. In these
four years, Christ the King’s Mount has
been visited by more than 25,000 people.
Visitors come both in the morning and
evening hours and it is impossible to
count all of them.
It is nice to know that there are so
many Christians in Latvia and that it is so
easy to communicate with them. Having
become acquainted with Christ the King’s
Mount people often leave their comments
in the Visitors’ Book.
Here are some of these comments:
It’s so nice to feel the touch of God
Terēzija Bumbiere has moved
from Inčukalns to Aglona and has
chosen to serve God as a guide
at Christ the King’s Mount.
when arriving at this holy place.
A sincere thanks for the spiritual
energy we gained at Christ the King’s
Mount.
Thanks for the beautiful God-given
moment which is full of peace and harmony
in this holy place and at this time.
A man becomes different at Christ
the King’s Mount. God washes him and
makes after His likeness. Thanks for
the opportunity to be able to work here!
Any work that is carried out with God’s
blessing lives forever, as does God’s
blessing itself.
It is so nice to meet like-minded
Christians. During our conversations we
become friends, and I am really happy
about that. They also feel the presence
of God here. Each of the sculptures that
have been made in God’s power and
through Ēriks Delpers’ hands emits
God’s light, warmth and power. Judging
from comments left in the Visitors’
Book, this place is being visited by many
international tourists and pilgrims. It is
nice to see a church coming together with
their minister. A great many people are
happy about the preaching house which
will be open to all Christians, regardless
of their denomination.
I wish all people would find their way
to God. It is only through Jesus Christ that
we can be saved.
2010
The sculptures have been created from an oak tree by Ēriks Delpers,
Jānis Stupāns, Ģirts Skuja, Uldis Reķis, Ainārs Freimanis, and Ivars Prullis,
while Aivars Dobelis, Vija Stupāne, Dzintra Delpere and many more friends
have provided assistance with the sculptures.
Together with
his family
and friends,
Jānis Stupāns
completed the
construction of
a tea house in
autumn 2008.
The tea house
was built of
glued timber. Its
structure was
prepared by
the company
SIA Paeglīši un
partneri. Both
adults and
children took
part in the
construction
process.
Today the tea house is a place in which visitors
can find additional information about the
sculpture garden and have a nice chat over a cup
of tea from the Garden of Paradise. Our guide,
Terēzija Bumbere, also works here. The building
boasts Ēriks Delpers’ photos and paintings.
In autumn 2008, more than a hundred fruit trees in
the form of apple and pear trees were planted in the
park. Each family that contributed to this work planted
their own fruit tree, and these will produce fruit that
will be available to all of the park’s visitors. As early
as the year following their planting, the apple trees
bore fruit, which was really wonderful. The garden
was designed by Anita Kazaka from SIA Baltezers.
In 2010, the Angel with Scales
sculpture was unveiled.
People can do good deeds
and evil deeds. Every day a
special angel records all deeds
performed by a person.
Good deeds accumulate
in the spirit as its fruits.
Evil deeds take root in the
soul as sin. God judges a
person’s deeds and angels
help Him to do this.
At the Mount
It is another world. Pure, holy, and
filled with deep and solemn silence
and the strong presence of God. When
going through the gate you leave the
mundane world behind. You feel like
you are entering another world in
which the spiritual dominates. Your
heart leaps with joy, since it is so easy
and nice to be here. You feel free and
united with the Eternal God. You stand
in front of Him and remind yourself of
the verity, of the Testament and of how
real and right it is to believe in Jesus
Christ, Eternal God.
The first steps you take lead you
into peace, love and warmth and you
are so happy that you feel like singing.
By actually touching Bible
characters you can visualise the life that
existed thousands of years before, you
can feel the atmosphere and emotions
of that time. It is like a reminder of the
Bible in actuality.
The narrow road from Adam and
Eve, along the Ark and Moses, with
its roughness and narrowness, serves
as proof that the mundane has to be
overcome and that it is not easy to live
in the world.
A sense of holy peace. When
gradually moving towards Christ, you
start to understand how much wisdom,
love, verity and grace God has given
through people in order to lead them to
the recognition of Christ, to absolution,
and to the promise of eternal life.
Each sculpture is like a key to your
conversation with, and verity and
gratitude to God, and to a certain living
person who has accomplished the task
that was assigned by God.
Each sculpture reminds you of
the completeness of God’s Intention
and the unavoidable progress towards
God’s plan.
Each of the sculptures has its own
vibration and energy, but together they
form an harmonious song, a symphony
that is played in God’s honour testifying
to the might and victory of Jesus Christ.
In 2010, the sculptural composition entitled God’s Hands was installed at
the foot of the Jesus Christ the Conqueror sculpture. People are allowed to
sit down in the hands. When sitting in these hands we might realise how
God sometimes carries us in His hands invisibly and never forgets about His
children. A wonderful view can be enjoyed from the mount over the lake.
The sculpture garden is a home
for angels as described in the Book
of Revelation by John the Apostle
– an angel with a trumpet, an
angel with a book, and an angel
with scales. This was the reason
for creating the sculpture, John
Writing the Book of Revelation. The
inspired John is writing down the
word of God as to what would
happen in the near future.
Ēriks Delpers is a sculptor and is
responsible for the creation of all of the
sculptures that have been installed
around the King’s Mount. He spent seventeen
years as a pilot and he has clearly
felt the presence of God several times in
critical situations. He had a dream of
carving Bible characters in wood.
Jānis Stupāns lives in Kastire. He
and his wife have four boys. When he
was looking for a beautiful place to build
his family a home, he found the King’s
Mount and purchased a twenty hectare
site. However, as he was standing on the
high hill trying to imagine how it might
look here, he experienced a vision of the
Golgotha Mount. Jānis decided that he
would create a place in God’s honour
here, instead of building a family house.
He had wanted to become a priest
in his early youth, but his life took a
different road: he took part in a great
deal of sporting activities, worked on
his father’s farm, cut trees in the
wood, and worked as an entrepreneur,
recruiting over a hundred people in his
woodworking companies. Jānis knows
that the treasures of earth do not last. It
is God we should have confidence in.
After reading a couple of Ēriks’
books, Jānis wanted to meet him. Having
met, they soon realised that they both
had a dream which could be achieved
together. Jānis had a place in which Ēriks
could create a park with sculptures of
Bible characters. And so began the hard
work, including cutting out any dead,
broken and overgrown bushes, since
even the nearby Lake Aglona could not
be seen behind the bushes. Jānis created
a peninsula at the lake and dug out three
ponds at the foot of the hill, discovering
an unusual phenomenon in the process
when he realised that although the ponds
were located next to each other, the loam
soil which formed their foundation was
of a different colour in each case: red,
blue, and white. Later on, spring water
was found in the valley when bushes
were being cut out. Jānis decided that a
pond should be dug out here as well. This
was how the pond in the Garden of Eden
was born. Today it is a home for Noah’s
Ark. The King’s Mount gradually gained
a new look.
The person who always participates
in both any significant and regular
events that take place at the King’s
Mount is Terēzija Bumbere, a culpture
park guide.
A book entitled Iespēja izdzīvot
(An Opportunity to Survive), which was
written by Ēriks Delpers, fell into her
hands at a critical moment in her life.
“As I was reading, I suddenly felt revived
again. When I learnt about Christ the
King’s Mount, about the possibility of
being here and being able to help in its
creation, I immediately wanted to know
whether it was possible to work at the
King’s Mount as a guide,” she recalls.
Terēzija has been working as a guide
and managing the park, and has already
been taking care of weeding, watering,
planting and managing the gardens in
general for several years. In winter she
is engaged in shovelling snow, building
a fire in a fireplace, and welcoming
visitors.
Each sculpture has its own
interesting story. The September
morning upon which the Christ the
Conqueror sculpture was taken from
Jānis Stupāns’ workshop to be installed
on the King’s Mount, the whole area was
surrounded by thick fog, which made
it impossible to see into the distance.
After installing Christ the Conqueror
sculpture at the King’s Mount the
fog dispersed and two rainbow arcs
appeared in the sky. A rainbow is the
token of God’s covenant. A double
rainbow is a special token showing that
God is with us.
When installing The Cross and the
Twelve Tribes sculptural composition we
also noticed a rainbow in the sky. During
installation of the sculpture devoted to
Christ’s rising another rainbow could be
seen in the sky.
In the case of the Lotus Flower, an
oak tree that was being cut down for the
sculpture of Virgin Mary suddenly fell
before it had been properly cut down
and split at the base of the trunk. When
taking a look at the split oak tree, we
noticed that it resembled a lotus flower,
and we also happen to be flowers in
God’s garden.The apple orchard was
planted in 2007 by one hundred and
twenty families as a symbolic
continuation of those very families. Pear
trees and sea buckthorn shrubs have
also found their place amongst the apple
trees.
Many newlyweds choose to visit
Christ the King’s Mount on their
wedding day. They go to the Garden of
Eden, place flowers at the Adam and Eve
sculpture, and spend some time at the
Angel in the Garden of Eden. Pictures are
often taken in front of the composition
of ornamental plants that have been laid
out in the shape of a heart around the
Mary and Baby Jesus sculpture.
42 43

The Living Tree
and Gate
compositions have
been created from
the branches of an
oak tree. Placing
branches in a circle
and connecting
their tops together,
the Living Tree
was born. This
composition
directs energy
and evokes a
pleasant feeling
when standing
in the middle of
it. The branches
of an oak tree are
powerful, and a
shape of the living
tree made by man
surprises everyone
with its vivacity
and energies. The
Gate is known as
hay drying racks.
Taking a closer
look at the Gate
we can see that
its shape forms
two triangles,
which in turn
form a pyramid
when connected
together.
We had been
thinking about
the sculpture, In
Honour of the Holy
Spirit, for a long
time, until the right
moment came
when we found
an appropriate
oak tree with
many symmetrical
branches. Today
we can see the
rays of the Holy
Spirit descending
from the sky as
white doves and
forming tongues
of fire. Touching
the sculpture In
Honour of the Holy
Spirit we can feel
the flow of the Holy
Spirit. When you
believe, everything
becomes real.
Christ is Risen Indeed sculpture has been made
out of a slender oak tree. Christ was crucified,
died and was buried, and then He was raised on
the third day. It was not an easy job to depict
His rising in a sculpture. This was in God’s power
only. How could the process of rising be shown?
It required a lot of thinking about the events
described in the New Testament. But we made it!
Our gratitude to God.
Visitors’ Book
Why should we go far away from Latvia to see any
wonders? On the contrary, other people should come
here and wonder how it is actually possible to create
a sculpture park so big and impressive. It’s so funny
when you think how a single letter in a word can totally
change the whole meaning of it. Let all people know
about this wonderful King’s Mount! How it is possible
I, as a photographer, have no idea. Thank you!
14.08.2009, kind regards, L B from Riga
We were immensely impressed by
the nice sculptural compositions.
Each image exerts unusual power
and attraction which stay deep
in your heart, mind, and soul.
Thanks to the good people, the
artists, for taking care of and
developing this holy place.
14.08.2009, L from Jelgava
I couldn’t imagine a place like
this. Seeing this wonderful
sight – so fantastic and almost
unreal – produces only positive
thoughts and hopes for better
life, which is fuller with faith.
14.08.2009, I L and D N
The first sculpture I started
working on was Mary and Baby Jesus.
The beginning was really amazing. A
group of six of us, all men, went into the
wood and found the most beautiful tree
for the sculpture. While we were in the
process of felling the oak tree, its trunk
split into seven parts. We were rather
confused about what to do and had to
think about it for a while. Fortunately,
everything turned out all right in the
end. From the parts that had split, Ēriks
made the Lotus Flower sculpture. The
rest of the tree was enough to allow the
creation of Mary and Baby Jesus.
When Ēriks works on a sculpture,
I closely follow his work and hope that
it will all go well. Helping to create the
sculptures, we put our love into them as
well. It is nice to see that the Mary and
Baby Jesus sculpture has turned out so
well.
Place your heart in the hands
of Christ – this is what the
Girl with Her Heart sculpture
is about. Indeed, this is great
wisdom to confide in God.
A prayer is opening the
door of your heart to Christ.
Praying Girl sculpture.
I had the opportunity to work at
renovating and covering the King’s
Mount sculptures with protective
lacquers. Before this job, I did inner
penance. When they lifted me up so
that I could paint the face of Christ I felt
His love. I was happy that I could touch
the face and eyes of Christ and caress
them with my heart and hands. Christ
lives in everything. In spring 2009,
God gave me an opportunity to deeply
feel the spiritual greatness of Christ’s
sculpture – to feel the power and might
coming from it.
While working on the sculpture
of Moses I thought a lot about
commandments and their fulfilment.
The activities of the Holy Spirit can
be felt in each sculpture that has been
installed at the King’s Mount, and I like
talking to God when I stand there.
Our common work, friendship and
love are the values that bring me the
greatest joy. It is so wonderful to see
how much work can be done together
with friends in faith and God’s power.
A sincere thanks to all of the people
who have taken part in the creation of
Christ the King’s Mount!
M with family from Kombuļi
During these ten years we have
managed to put together a team which
enjoys working, thinking and relaxing
together. The most important thing in
our lives is the thoughts and the work
that is related to God, His care and
guidance. Every day we feel Christ’s
activity in us, and therefore we are happy
to develop Christ the King’s Mount.
In spring 2010, we came up with the idea
of forming the Church of Christ – just
as it is written in the New Testament.
And so the Church was established. At
the same time, the idea of a building
for worship emerged. That is why
Christ’s preaching house, which is
open to all Christians regardless of
their denomination, was built. May
God’s preaching house unify all the
believers into one Christ Church, as God
has commanded in the Testament.
We got down to the work of digging,
forming and laying concrete foundations
as early as the spring. As a result of our
efforts, the foundations were ready
by summer. The Church was designed
by Ēriks Delpers. Its detail design was
developed by an architect by the name
of Ārijs Elksniņš, but the timber frame
and joists were manufactured by
SIA Dores. Gratitude should be
expressed to Egons Garklāvs and Atis
Garklāvs as well. The frame we put
together on our own. Both men and
women, aged between eighteen and
seventy, took part in this process. Each
was given an opportunity to carry
their own piece of timber and to put
it into the right place according to the
design. Everything was built following
the design requirements. Then came
the roof structure and the structural
enhancement of the tower. Thanks
to the technically accurate structures
provided by SIA Dores, everything went
well. Gratitude should be expressed
to everyone who has taken part and
who is still engaged in the construction
of the Christ preaching house. The
tower structure was built by hands and
enhanced by bolts. The cross was made
of stainless steel by metalworking artist,
Normunds Dāvids. The roof covering
of clay tiles was also completed by
the time the autumn rains arrived.
A composition of ornamental plants has
been created around the preaching house.
It has been designed by Anita Kazaka
from SIA Baltezers. God’s house will be
decorated as well as possible – in honour
of God and for people’s joy. Everyone
is welcome to tend God’s gardens.
Thoughts
Arrived at through
Talks with People
There are people who arrive
here for the first time – either out of
interest generated by the mass media
or through recommendations by
friends. Some, on the contrary, come
here out of natural human curiosity.
A number of people arrive having
already formed a strong and rigid
opinion, although they have not been
here before.
Many visitors find Christ the
King’s Mount accidentally when going
about their daily routines, or when on
excursions, trips or hikes. They come
by various means, either on foot, by car,
or on a bicycle. They see the sign and
follow it. It’s just so simple.
A lot of people come back here
again for the umpteenth time, since
the Mount changes so quickly.
Almost every month the park is being
supplemented with more and more
new sculptures, plants, and not only
that. You come to feel the wonder – you
see, feel, and let yourself be taken by
surprise.
No matter how and why some
people arrive at the King’s Mount, the
moment they enter the gate and read
the words “In honour of God” they enter
as if they have breached a new world –
the Kingdom of God’s Love on Earth.
This is the moment when all the
previous opinions, doubts and sorrow
disappear – you are alone with Him.
He is love, peace, happiness, joy and
everything you could ever wish for.
It makes you feel like you can fly!
This is a place where you can look
into yourself, your inner world and
soul.
When you are sitting in God’s
hands, on a small bench or simply on
the green grass you finally feel free. You
can believe. You can also choose not
to believe – nobody will preach about
anything or criticise you here. You can
listen to your inner voice, let yourself
be as you really are, as if the world was
created only today and you are in the
Garden of Eden.
Watching the sun slowly going
down and casting a golden reflection
over the swans that leisurely swim on
the lake, you feel the long awaited peace
and clarity descending upon you, and
you are completely sure that you have
never felt so good no matter where you
were.
Someday, sooner or later, you know
that you also want to take part in
making this place more beautiful and
flourishing, and then you plant your
first flower, bush or tree or engage in
the installation of a sculpture.
Maybe you have not even expected
it, but you soon make friends here who
listen to you and show you warmth,
and you feel welcome and needed.
You feel the blessing flowing into
your life and covering all the people
close to you, but sorrow and fear
subside. Yes, you are at home.
Although you may find yourself
at Christ the King’s Mount on a rainy,
sunny, misty or a snowy day, you will
neither become indifferent nor will you
forget this place. Because you will be
changed.
You will feel as if someone has
strewn millions of gold stars in your
heart which ground your soul like a
diamond.
Now you have become spiritually
strong and ready to shine before others.
A new day is coming and God’s
light dawns over the King’s Mount. But
you, even when not there, can feel the
warm touch of this light to your tired
soul and you become enlightened.
Dear visitors of Christ the King’s
Mount, like-minded and warm
people, all, all... I want to say thanks
for all the good words, wishes and
your joy from the bottom of my
heart. When I see people’s joy in this
place I feel really touched and happy.
When I see loving couples enjoying
beauty of the garden and everyone
visiting us I feel incredibly positive.
May there be many happy
people in the world! Everyone
is important to God.
Visitors’ Book
We indeed felt the breath of eternity
at this Mount. We love the wonderful
sculptures and admire the enthusiasm
with which such a large group of objects
was created within such a short period
of time.
10.2010, J and I from Riga
During the big volunteer work day in the
autumn, we unveiled eight new sculptures:
Christ’s Cross to go through feeling
the power of cross, King David,
Everblooming Flowers, Psalmist, Praying
Woman, Christ in Heart, and Sinner
Man. In 2010, after putting in a great
deal of joint effort, we added fifteen
more sculptures to Christ the King’s
Mount. Everything has been made
with gratitude to God and in honour of
God! The Christ preaching house has
been started and completed. It will be
a building for the worship of God for
all churches. Work on the interior will
be completed next year. Praise and
eternal glory to God, the Father, and
to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit!
23.10.2010, Ēriks Delpers
Every day Christ the King’s Mount is
visited by many tourists, both local
and foreign. Moreover, the Mount
has been included in tourist booklets
as one of the ten most interesting
places to see in Latvia. In July 2010
alone, it was visited by 3,000 people.
The first things that surprise are the
scope of the landscape architect
and the amount of earthworks that
were conducted in a short period
of time. All of the work is carried
out thoroughly. A lake has been laid
out in the former location of the
swamp, two large artificial islands
have been created, seven artificial
ponds have been dug out, and an
information centre and a floating
Noah’s Ark have been built. At the
moment we are constructing the
preaching house. Hundreds of trees,
decorative bushes, and ornamental
plants have been planted. The
most impressive creations in the
garden are the large sculptures
that rise above people and which
depict various Bible characters
and stories. A good part of our
society knows Ēriks Delpers not
only as a woodcarver but also as
a healer and an active preacher of
God’s word. People come from all
over Latvia to listen to his lectures.
It should be emphasised that
entry into the sculpture park is
free of charge and it is open to
everyone. People are welcome
here, not only to enjoy the beautiful
environment and art, and engage in
contemplative mediation, but also
to relax. You can come here with
your family to have a good time, fish
or take a boat ride. Once there was
nothing, now there is everything.
The King’s Mount guide says
that everything here is being
created with love. Every weekend
people come here from all over
the country and carry out some
work without any remuneration.
Volunteer work days bring together
more than a hundred people.
Christmas at Christ the King’s Mount.
Yesterday saw a strong snow storm.
Today we shovelled clear the paths and
trails. Candlelight filled the whole house.
A decorated Christmas tree was outside.
The whole mount was lighting up
both around the sculptures and along
the paths. I felt peace and absolution
for myself and for others. A happy,
blessed, and creative New Year 2011!
King’s Mount is a
special place in which
we have managed
to create a unique
sculpture garden
on our own, with
no state funding.
Within four years it
has become one of
the most attractive
tourism destinations
in the Latgale region.
Our gratitude to
all people who are
taking care of Christ
the King’s Mount.
When I sit down on a bench at Christ the King’s Mount
I feel like I have entered Paradise where God seems so
near and His might is felt in everything around me – in
the sculptures, sky, sunset, lake, the mount, flowers
and everywhere else. And it is so wonderful to see
newlyweds, believers or just ordinary people coming
here to pray to God, our Creator, to be with themselves
and simply to feel and enjoy the work that has been
done with love, in honour of God and for people’s joy.
You are always highly welcome to the King’s Mount.
The trees to be
used for sculptures
were prepared in
winter. In February
2011, we cut down
twenty oak trees.
It was a cold winter,
with frosts and
temperatures as
low as -20˚C, and
a lot of snow.
A big thank you
to Roberts Lenis
for fourteen
oak trees!
Thanks to the
helpers who
took part in
limbing, peeling
bark off the
oak trees and
taking off the
soft layer. The
other six oak
trees, which
had been
toppled during
a storm, we
bought in
Arendole. The
majority of the
oak trees were
large and it was
pretty difficult
to get them
on the road.
Thanks go
to Jānis
Stupāns who,
using special
equipment,
managed to
get the trees
to Kastire
and Eņģeļi
in Ogresgals
where we got
down to further
preparing trees
and making
sculptures.
their presence. By April we
had already completed 22 angels.
The love from your heart and
your spiritual energy must
Angels are God’s messengers a
to make sure that God’s
Testament is always fulfilled.
Dear People of
the Light, this is
the place in which
Love and Light
live. My God is
Love and Light.
May all people
manage to find,
understand
and live in it!
26.02.2011.
From Ludza
During the sculpture creation
process, we made use not only of
the trunk but also of the branches.
In March 2011, we started making
angels and their wings. One of
the major tasks in 2011 was to
create over thirty angels. Angels
are often mentioned in the Bible.
There are angels that protect and
guide people, angels that keep
records, angels with a seal, angels
with the bowl of God’s wrath,
and angels giving blessings.
Christ the King’s Mount has been created in
honour of God and with love and gratitude to
Christ for His victory, salvation, absolution
and for the chance of being able to love
and be loved in return. All Christians
are one Christ Church and, we, friends
in Christ, unite through work in
creating this park in honour of God,
building this preaching house
and bridges, and taking care
of the park, so that Latvia can
be even more beautiful.
The Angel with
a Bowl of Anger
sculpture was
made from a
special oak tree.
This angel was
mentioned in
the Book of
Revelation by
John the Apostle.
There were three
large branches at
the top of the tree.
The wings were
created from two
branches while
the face was made
from the third. Only
some of the trees
had three branches.
Many trees had two
branches, and then
we had to figure
out how to create
the face of an angel
between the wings.
In the case of
other angels we
made their wings
separately.
Between May 2011 and late autumn, several volunteer work days
were organised at Christ the King’s Mount. The number of volunteers
participating in these large volunteer work events exceeded a hundred.
Simultaneously with the creation and installation of sculptures we
were getting prepared for planting ornamental trees, plants and roses.
The park with its ornamental trees was designed by Anita Kazaka.
In May 2011, we marked out the
composition, dug holes, took out
the loam soil and filled holes with
black earth. A special bit of work
was carried out around Christ
preaching house, where we dug
holes and prepared the soil in the
shape of rays. We also prepared
the soil for planting roses and
ornamental trees. In this month
only we planted a thousand
ornamental trees and two hundred
rose plants in the park area.
Angels. The sculptures were made
both in Eņģeļi, Ogresgals, and at
we were capable of doing a lot.
The big spring volunteer work day
unveiled 27 sculptures, including
the following: Angel with a Seal,
Angel with Bread, Angel with Flowers,
Angel with a Bowl of Anger, Abraham,
Samson the Strong Man, etc. At the
months to finish the work. God
to create the altar for the Christ
preaching house showing how
Christ comes to the people and
the Kingdom of Heaven follows,
13 August 2011 was a big day of celebration at Christ the King’s Mount. We
have done a lot to be proud of. This year we unveiled 49 sculptures – the
number speaks for itself. The celebration began with a service in the Christ
preaching house and continued in the sculpture garden with readings from
God’s Testament, songs and conversations.
80 81

The work on the sculptures actively continued in the second half of August.
We would like to show our gratitude to all of those people who participated
in the creation of the sculptures: Jānis Stupāns, sculptor Ēriks Delpers,
Uldis Reķis, Ģirts Skuja, Ivars Prullis, Ainārs Freimanis, Valdis Nudiens, and
all the others. We would also like to show our gratitude to Terēzija Bumber
and Gita Skrebele for welcoming visitors and organising the daily work.
During the
autumn volunteer
work day on 16
September 2011,
we planted about
five hundred
ornamental
trees and plants,
we unveiled
sculptures, and
we installed
night lights
and outdoor
lighting in the
park area. We
placed roughly
eighty big
stones around
sculptures under
The work on the creation of
Bethlehem has been started. Angel
wings were made out of the largest
oak tree. Mary and Baby Jesus,
Joseph and Angels were created in
Eņģeļi, Ogresgals, and then taken to
the park and unveiled on 1 October
2011. It is so wonderful that God’s
park is a home for Mary, Baby
Jesus and Joseph living in their
Bethlehem! In life, we often want
to honour Jesus Christ, the Son of
God, the only-begotten born of
the Father. The Star of Bethlehem
has been laid out in the pavement
around the sculptural composition.
In October 2011, the painter Ilvija
Juškēviča began work on the altar
painting. The painting is in the shape
of a cross and depicts a fragment of
the Kingdom of God. The painting
was composed according to Ēriks
Delpers’ sketch, since he had seen
the Kingdom of God in many of his
visions, which were later described
in his books and depicted in his
paintings. Ilvija feels the colours
and forms very deeply, and knows
how to create a painting with heart
and soul. During the painting
process we prayed to Jesus Christ
and received His blessing for the
work on this painting. The work
went on for three months and was
finished exactly at Christmas 2011.
Ilvija Juškēviča indeed managed
to create a beautiful altar painting, which shows God’s real blessing
coming from the Kingdom of God. Christ comes, and along Him comes
His promised Kingdom of God for all those who have believed in Him.
Christ preaching house and the
island house. On 5 November
2011, the area was provided with
power. During volunteer work
events we went on with arranging
outdoor lighting, taking care of
the area, and preparing the fruit
trees for winter. In November and
December, we carried out paving
work under Jānis Stupāns’ guidance.
At Christmas we experienced great
joy and gratitude to God. This
had been a busy year – we had
finished the work on the Christ
preaching house, installed the bell,
placed angel sculptures on both
sides of the altar, and lit up the
park area, preaching house and
Bethlehem. We had installed
56 sculptures, so at the end of
2011 there were 105 sculptures
in total. We had planted over
2,500 ornamental trees and
plants, 200 rose plants,
120 fruit trees and 100 oak trees.
An office building, a sanctuary,
an arbour, and an island house
had been built, and the work
had been started on a household
building. The work on Christ
the King’s Mount will never
stop, and therefore we will
always need industrious
helpers. May everyone
feel joy at what we are
and will be doing!
This is a very bright, relaxing and refreshing place. It
seems as if time has stopped here. We’ll try to come back
here in summer or autumn. It will probably be impossible
to describe this feeling with words.
The year 2012 was especially productive: we unveiled 65 sculptures,
constructed the Road of God’s blessing in the park area, and planted around
600 ornamental trees and plants. We have continued to work on two
islands: the Love Island with paths running in the pattern of a cockleshell
and the Paradise Island with a maze of paths, plus 220 plants and a fountain
in the centre of the island. We built a ferry, which will carry people to the
Paradise Island. Three household buildings, an artist house and three
arbours were created in one year. Site visitors are always at the centre of
our development plans, and they are sincerely welcome at all times.
I look forward to meeting
you all at Christ the King’s Mount
.
Best regards,
We saw and understood: this is really
the Work of Love. We serve God in
different ways. Your work also gives
joy to people and makes others ask:
what have I done for God? And what
could I do? May God bless all of your
future work!
