On his part, Industries Minister Madan Mohan Mittal, at the same time, undertook an extensive tour to China where he held discussions with prospective investors across the board and offered them to set up an industrial cluster in Punjab. All this has been to build up momentum for the forthcoming Progressive Punjab Investors' summit on October 28 and 29 in Mohali which is slated to be a launching pad for many new projects and help investors discover Punjab as a new investment destination. In a way taking forward the initiative that the state government took in 2013 by organising the first investors' summit. While an investment of Rs 32,676 crore has already been planned ever since the first investors' summit, proposals from big players like M/s Infosys, M/s Ultratech Cement, M/s T.I Tubes (Murugappa Group), M/s ITC, M/s Cargill India, M/s Amul, M/s Mahindra Agro, M/s Sonalika Tractors etc. to set up their ventures have been in the pipeline. In all, 225 applications for investments in various fields have been received by the Bureau of Investment.
