What is a smart city
A
city equipped with basic infrastructure to give a decent quality of
life, a clean and sustainable environment through application of
some smart solutions.
Infrastructure: Assured water and electricity supply, sanitation and solid
waste management, efficient urban mobility and public transport, robust IT
connectivity, e-governance and citizen participation, safety and security of
citizens.
Smart solutions: Public information, grievance redressal, electronic service
delivery, citizens’ engagement, waste to energy & fuel, waste to compost,
100% treatment of waste water, smart meters & management, monitoring
water quality, renewable source of energy, efficient energy and green building,
smart parking, intelligent traffic management system.
Action: A Special Purpose Vehicle will be created for each city to implement
Smart City action plan. The SPV will be signed with the urban local
body, state government and the Centre for implementation of the project.
