values of hard work and
honest living. My goal is
to simply meet the
challenge of making our
community better.
What are your top 3
priorities, and how will
you get them done? (In
My call-to-action is
based on priorities that
reflect shared interests
and a common vision. My
priorities are to (1)
improve civic alliances
with our local
governments, (2) promote
fairness and (2) to make
wise investments in our
community. If we can do
these things well we can
contribute to better lives
for the people in who live
in Creedmoor.
Why should voters
vote for you? (In 50 words
background in my
professional career which
encompasses core areas of
Marketing; Law;
and Broadcast Television.
I believe this broad
my experience as a
with unique perspectives
that can be useful in
critical decision making.
Supporter, Creedmoor 4-
H Rockers Supporter.
How long have you
lived in the town or city
that you would like to
represent? I have lived in
Creedmoor since
December, 2007. This
was around the time that
Creedmoor officials were
expanding the tax base by
adding additional homes
on the East side of
Creedmoor.
Why are you running
for office? (In 50 words or
less): I am seeking office
because I care about the
future of Creedmoor; my
chosen home. Currently
there is not one City
Commissioner
representing the fast
growing segment of
Creedmoor since District
6 County Commission
Tim Karen. This election
is about the future
direction of Creedmoor
and who can best provide
the diversity of opinion
most needed by our
diverse community.
My experience and
background will provide a
greater diversity of
opinion to the decisions
made by City officials.
Creedmoor’s greatest
expansion has been to the
East and based on
geography, this is the
likely direction for our
future. And, if Creedmoor
is to be the Inclusive
Community that it
proclaims on the Welcome
Sign entering the City
from Highway 50, then
ALL voices must be
heard. I am an advocate
for Smart Water
M a n a g e m e n t ,
Transparency in
Government, Meaningful
Outreach, to our youth,
seniors, businesses, and
entire community.
What are your top 3
priorities, and how will
you get them done? (In
100 words or less):
1. Provide greater
feedback to residents
concerning issues
affecting the community.
Regularly participate in
Town Hall meetings, visit
community homeowner
association meetings and
proactively solicit input
from residents with a
focus on addressing the
needs of our youth so we
can provide greater after
school and recreational
opportunities for their
growing numbers in our
community. This can
curtail potential gang
activity, stimulate growth
and involvement, while
providing attractive
consideration for those
considering moving to
Creedmoor. This
prevents crime, saves tax
dollars, and provides
guidance and direction to
the underserved youth in
our community.
Too few programs
exist and those that do
are limited. For example,
The Creedmoor Police
Department’s new Youth
Explorers Program is a
great effort however,
access limited to 20
participants.
The Creedmoor 4-H
Rockers Organization has
a success record of
building rock solid
citizens through their
outreach and member
activities; however, with
limited resources,
diversity and minority
participation.
As a community, we
must appeal to the varied
interests, attentions and
numbers of our most
precious commodity —
our youth.
2. Smart Water
Management - Monitor
and publicly report to the
residents how General
Fund (general tax dollars)
and Enterprise Fund
(dollars for water and
sewer) are spent. It is not
enough to know what
projects are underway as
is the custom now by
listing projects in the BC
News, but we must also
inform residents about
how we are managing
those funds. We need to
join SGWASA
immediately, without
proviso and save our
residents the additional
financial burdens
associated with high
water bills.
3. I will request a
strategic planning
session with officials from
Granville County;
Butner; Stem and
business leaders from the
Wilton area to determine
key issues and concerns
for the region and how
best to collaborate while
moving forward. It is
common knowledge that
greater cooperation is
needed between
Creedmoor, Butner, Stem
and Wilton if the region
is going to prosper.
This will allow us to
collaborate with the
business community to
develop a plan to assist
and promote small
business in Creedmoor.
Our Impact Fees are too
high which curtails
business growth in our
community. Evidence of
this is that since 2008 we
have only built one
privately owned small
business in Creedmoor
(Champs Tire). The other
four businesses
constructed in Creedmoor
are owned by
corporations (Family
Fare, CVS, Cardinal/
Union Bank and soon to
be Walgreen’s). There is
tremendous talent in
Creedmoor but nothing is
visibly being done to
promote small business
growth which can mean
jobs.
Why should voters
vote for you? (In 50 words
or less): From 2000 to
2010, the population of
Creedmoor nearly
doubled. This election
must be about the future
direction of Creedmoor.
New residents came to
Creedmoor for affordable
homes, small town
charm; access to jobs and
low tax rates. Lifelong
and new residents need to
know how leaders intend
to maintain the regional
charm and improve and
increase their quality of
life. My extensive travel
and knowledge of what
has happened in other
communities, my
involvement in our
community affairs, my
work as a teacher and my
training in areas such as
law, real estate, banking
and finance allows me to
provide a unique
perspective to local issues.
I bring knowledge, energy,
enthusiasm, and diversity
to Creedmoor and I look
forward to being a voice
for a community that
deserves to be heard.
How long have you
lived in the town or city
that you would like to
represent? I have lived in
Creedmoor since 1960.
Why are you running
for office? (In 50 words or
less): Creedmoor is a
growing community. I
would like to see that the
growth is orderly and
Creedmoor keeps its
friendly and small town
image. The city
management team that is
now in place
professionally represents
our citizens and their
interest. I have taken part
in building this team and
wish to continue serving
with them.
What are your top 3
priorities, and how will
you get them done? (In
100 words or less):
My top priorities are
recreation and economic
development. Our young
and more mature
residents deserve more
r e c r e a t i o n a l
opportunities. This
obviously takes money
and we are actively
pursuing grants.
In the economic
development department
area, we are looking for
new businesses and stores
so our citizens may shop
at home and keep our
hard earned dollars in
Creedmoor to benefit
Creedmoor. The city has
loan funds available to
assist with new growth
opportunities. These
funds can be borrowed
from the city, then repaid
to assist the next business
owner.
My final priority is to
keep Creedmoor safe and
great place to live, work
and play by taking each
issue that comes before
the Board and studying it
and being an advocate of
the community.
of Commercial Projects
for a commercial
contractor; Owner of my
own company to develop
land. Construct buildings,
rental management, and
maintenance.
Military Service (if
any): None
Community & Civic
Service: Serve on the
Round Table Staff
(monthly leader meeting)
at the District level for
Boy Scouts. The District
is in the northwest corner
of Wake County; Helped
create (in 1990) the North
Raleigh Church of Christ
at the intersection of Falls
of Neuse and I-540 in
North Raleigh. Serve as
an active member.
Attendance is in 200 to
225 range.
How long have you
lived in the town or city
that you would like to
represent? Bought
property here in 1985 to
develop. Have developed
and maintained rental
property since 1985.
Actually moved here in
2005.
Why are you running
for office? (In 50 words or
less): I perceive that the
commissioners may mean
well, but seem to be
governing against the will
of the citizens. There is
only one cure for that —
run for the office, and let
the voters, the real
bosses, decide how they
wish to be governed and
by whom.
What are your top 3
priorities, and how will
you get them done? (In
100 words or less):
1) Put to bed once and
for all the question of the
high water and sewer
rates here. Could the
citizens benefit by
actually merging the
Creedmoor system into
the SGWASA regional
utility system? This has
been going on since 2008,
and long overdue.
2) Oppose, with vigor,
any tax or fee increase of
any description, unless
there is a major reason
and clear demand from
the voters for said
increase. The voters are
the real bosses
3) Listen to the
concerns of the citizens,
plus actually hear and
respond appropriately to
their concerns.
Why should voters
vote for you? (In 50 words
or less):
