Sales Tax Holiday
This year’s Sales Tax
Holiday, scheduled for
August 3-5, marks the 10th
year that the NC General
Assembly has opted to set
aside one weekend free of
sales tax on back-to-school
related items.
But there is no
guarantee that there will
be one in 2013 or the year
after that. As North
Carolina continues to
struggle to balance the
state’s budget, many
program are on the
chopping block and the
Sales Tax Holiday could
very well be one of them.
NCRMA is staying in
close touch with legislative
leadership as this
discussion unfolds to
educate legislators on the
popularity of the Sales Tax
Holiday with their
constituents as it provides
a small tax break to
consumer as they make
necessary purchases for
school or college.
For specific information
on the Sales Tax Holiday,
visit the website to
download the complete
guide. If you have
additional questions
regarding the Sales Tax
Holiday, please feel free to
Materials are
provided. Registration is
free for museum members
and $5.00 for nonmembers.
CREEDMOOR MUSIC
FESTIVAL
The 21st Annual
Creedmoor Music
Festival is scheduled for
Saturday, September
15th. The festival will be
held rain or shine with
hours from 8:30 a.m. until
4:00 p.m. A mix of
musical talent, activities
and community culture
will give residents and
visitors an experience
they can only get in
Creedmoor. The City’s
festival draws dozens of
musicians, food and craft
vendors, and attendees
from all around the
region.
Families and friends
can meet to stroll through
Creedmoor’s Main Street
and browse the booths of
artists, craftsmen, and
enjoy local food items.
The festival attracts
residents and visitors
alike to relax and enjoy a
little southern hospitality.
Over the past few
years, City staff and
officials have made
planning
and
programming changes to
the festival in an attempt
to better organize
vendors, musicians, and
sponsors. Emphasis on
registration, parking, and
programming for the day
have been implemented.
The Music Festival
requires a tremendous
commitment from the
community and from City
staff who prepare and
plan for months to make
this event a success. The
support of local
businesses makes the
festival possible.
Mayor Darryl Moss
will be recognizing
businesses throughout
the day of the festival
from the main stage.
The vendor booth
spaces are $10.00 each
(plus a $40.00 deposit,
which will be refunded to
attending vendors within
10 days.) Local
businesses and craftsmen
use the event to promote
their businesses, increase
foot traffic in their stores
and increase sales.
Festival goers love the
variety that is offered at
the festival every year.
There are a variety of
booths already reserved
for this year’s festival
including arts and crafts,
specialty foods, nonprofit,
commercial, and
jewelry. (All food vendors
are required to have a
Granville County Health
Department permit) .
There are still booths
available. Vendor
registration forms and
information are available
on the City’s website at
www.cityofcreedmoor.org)
Door prizes will be
donated from local
businesses and citizens.
In previous years, these
prizes have included
savings bonds, t-shirts,
gas cards, gift cards and
certificates, memberships
and various other prizes.
Door prize sponsorships
are still available.
